I just received a cue recently. Overall the quality of the cue was quite good except one flaw which annoys me.

The joint collar of the butt and the shafts(both) when put together are not flush. I suspect it is the butt. Maybe the pin is not concentric but I'm not sure. The first person I shown the cue to also spotted it straight away. I shot a couple of balls then put it away. :o

I thought of putting up for sale and disclosing the flaw but the cue maker of this cue would suffer including me.

What should I do as a customer?

Thanks in advance for your 2 cents!!

Most cues are sanded to fit some sought of mandrel, This is a very good system but if the butt per say had been re-faced after the final sanding, it could throw it off. It's Hard to speculate what could have gone wrong in your situation but this is one for possibility.

maybe the butt was made to fit a set of shafts off a different cue and just match ''close''

"let the cuemaker fix it", is GOOD advice. it may wind up as an embarrasing oversight by the cuemaker. things happen. if the cuemaker has merrit, he will be more than willing to amend the problem. this allows a solution to the problem without a potential "smear" on the cuemaker or you. if he doesn't address the problem THEN that is a different story. hope it goes well for you.

Communicate to the original maker, and tell the true status of the cue. I'm sure hes willing to fix that problem. Both parties must cooperate to avoid more sufferings on the future..

First did you buy the cue directly from the Cue Maker? Either way I would still contact the cue maker as a courtesy. Most of us, especially unknown small builders like myself would most likely take care of a problem like that. If you did buy it new and from the builder directly and the builder is not under standing and willing to help you out, they will not be around very long, reputation = customer satisfaction and service nothing more can be said.

If you bought the cue directly from the builder then contact them with your concerns so they can resolve the issue. If you purchased through a 3rd party contact the 3rd party and have them resolve the issue. Either should be willing to make the situation right.
