Need help Cue photos

I see so many perfect cue photos here. I tried to take some of my cue and they were bad. I have a 3.2 megapixel camera and had it set on the highest setting and no luck.
How do you do it?

Get a new camera.... Just joking get up close and have good lighting

Natural lighting is a good start. Also using blue or green cloth from a pool table helps. I would suggest mounting your camera on a tripod as well.
Test with and without the flash.
