Need help for a new JP cue

A couple weeks ago I bought a Pechauer P19C cue. Being one of his higher end cues, I figured this would be a good hitting cue. However, this cue hits like a brick. I have had 3 different tips put on it to soften the hit and still no help. The last tip I had put on is an everest which helped a bit, but not enough for a $1000.00 cue. I'm about to ebay it if I can't get this cue to hit properly.

I have a $300 Mali that I use as a break cue that shoots and feels 10x better than this cue.

Help?
 
Unfortunately, that's the way it is with cues. Does this JP have one of their funky, over-built steel joints? I've seen pics of some that look like that old McDermott "centric" joint... like it's made outta re-bar.
Both companies made some great hitting cues, but those joints look like they'd be dead.

The join is fine. I put on a predator shaft and it hit very well. The shaft wasn't mine so I had to give it back, and I'm not putting a $200 more dollars in this cue.

I was just hoping that you guys would have a solution for me.
 
There is no solution for a hit you don't like. Change what you like or change the stick.

Most of the time, higher-end models, unless they use a different joint and construction, hit the same as any other cue from the series.

You can't really complain that a cue does not have the feel you want it to. My friend has a very pretty Webb that I don't like using at all, yet he loves it.

If you want a soft and smooth hit, try Samsara. Also the cue that I use, Ned Morris, has a very smooth hit.

I have a JC 09 and love the hit. In fact I would call it soft hitting. But it has a different joint than yours.

If you liked the hit the Predator shaft, look for a used one...you don't have to spend $200, but you will take a hit of at least that much on the cue on ebay. If you think the issue is the shaft, maybe a custom cuemaker could re-taper the shaft to give more or less of what you are looking for for even less money than a used P.
