Well thank you kbooks3. I agree with Ron Thomas, it is not an It's George case.
I just compared it to an early It's George case that I got and they are definitely different. The only thing they have in common is that they are tube cases and they have the same latch and feet on the bottom. That's it. The arrangement of the feet is similar but the spacing is definitely different. Different tubes. Different lengths. Different liners. Different end caps. The lids do not interchange, the tubes are of a different dimension.
Unless It's George changed virtually everything about their cases after an early run, these cannot be made by them.
Now we have seen three. The one in the Ebay ad, mine, and kbooks3's.
There were some cases made by cue makers, perhaps this is one of them. It seems they are all from the eighties, at least the ones that have turned up.
These are seriously high quality cases, no joke. Two of the three that have turned up were paired with higher end maker's cues too. It would be nice to track down who made them.
Let's try again. Any ideas?
EDIT: Maybe Paul Dayton or Bill Schick knows? Two of the cases were found with their cues. Does anybody know them that could ask?
