They looking for a Valley, there is a guy who does a nice job refinishing Valley's and setting them up in your home if you want a cheap good table that at least has been all redone. He sells them for around a $1000 installed.

You can usually find a free table on Craigslist Chicago, if your patient you might find a good one.

Get a hold of Jerimy Chalmers. He is one of the best mechanics in the country and lives in the area. He can setup and probably runs across several for sale daily,

i would like to see them get a nice 8 foot gold crown
i think they will only be here for another 3 years and have to move

That's why a Valley may work best. Valleys are good for taking abuse. Kids won't hurt it ;) Easy install. If they still like pool in 3 years, they can pack it up with them. If they don't, it's an easy re-sell back to the guy who sold it to you :)

Yeah not sure either.... but perhaps a good mechanic in the area could either fix it if it's not bad or point you in that right direction to get new slates...gl
 
I can offer a couple sets of balls, some old house cues , racks and some chalk if needed.
