I'm trying to make it more enjoyable to watch streams by putting them on my TV. No problem with the video, I just hook the HDMI cable from my computer to the TV and everything displays fine, but the audio doesn't go through with the video. I can hear the audio on my computer but it's not coming through to the TV.

I tried playing a DVD and was able to get the audio to go through when I play it with Windows media center. But I'm not able to get sound through the TV with a stream or online video. The sound device manager in control panel shows the HDMI connection and says it is working.

If it's any help, I'm running Windows Vista, not 7.

Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure the volume is up in video player in the browser (ie: Ustream). The sound should come through the HDMI cable to your tv.

Good Luck!

Yeah, the audio was on, it was working on the computer. But I think I solved the problem after doing some research on the internet. Essentially I got it to work by plugging the HDMI to the computer BEFORE turning the laptop on. I guess it's not a plug and play thing. But it worked if I had the computer all connected up to the TV prior to powering up.

The solution does create different minor problem. If I unplug from the TV, the audio on my computer doesn't work. I have to shut down or restart with the HDMI cable disconnected from the laptop to get the computer's speakers working again. Seems funky to me, there has to be a way to run the audio where you want to without having to shutdown/disconnect/restart. It seems weird that I can't figure out a way to direct the audio either to the TV or laptop from control panel or something. If anyone knows how to do this, the help would be appreciated.

But at least I can now watch streamed pool on my TV so I guess I can live with having to restart to get the audio back to the computer after watching a stream.

Now I'll probably become a stream junkie, lol. But certainly it will be enticing to buy a stream if I can have some of the guys over to beer down and watch some pool together on the big screen. :D
