Hey guys I was in the process of installing a phenolic tip by hand.. (BIG MISTAKE, I THINK) What is the best way to cut the tip? Need help quick thanks.

I am not an expert at all, but I don't think that you can really cut it by hand. As you already know by now, to install a phenolic tip a lathe is HIGHLY recommended. But since you have started already, I would think that instead of cutting it, you might try using sand paper. Well I am probably complete off track with the subject, but hopefully someone else will chime in.

Oh dude, If you've put glue to shaft already I don't envy the work you're going to have to do.

If that's the case, get some masking tape and wrap it around the ferrel a few times to protect it. (even better if you can do it enough to leave a straight edger around the outside of the tip).

Get an abrasive pad of some sort. preferably with a fine grit then work the tip down to size.

The alternative of course is to stop right now and take your shaft in to a professional. (Highly recommended)

Supergreenman has words of wisdom. Don't try a task if you don't have the equipment to handle it correctly. If you don't care what it looks like...hold the tip edge against a grinding wheel & keep spinning it.
