Hi again.
After searching and looking for months i decided that the cues that i like most are those with Bushka or Hoppe style. It's my dream to have one of these but don't know much about cues(thats why i 've been kind of fooled 2-3 times). The only cues with this style that i know is the Predator reissue and the Adam Balabushka reissue and i like their style very much but as i have read here (and been told) they're not good quality. So cause i am not rich(that's for sure!) and have already spend money for nothing can you suggest me cues with this style that i can stick with for a lot of time and only care about my game. The money i can spend is 400-600 dollars maximum i think(or cheaper if i can find used) so can anyone help me cause i'm very confused and as i said i'm not rich.
Also if helps i prefer a kind of stiff hit and feel and lighter cues..
Thanks

This is your luck day...but first...

I've owned and Adam Bushka GB9 for several years and anyone who says it isn't a FINE cue for the money (about $520 retail) is full of it IMHO.

A year or so ago, I had my cues stolen and I immediately bought an exact duplicate set (GB9 with the shaft it ships with plus a Predator)

But my friend, Bobby Pickle put out the word that the person who stole the cues needed to return them because they were taken from his friend and there would be no questions asked. And like magic, two days later, the cues were returned to JOBs.

So I have an extra set. Just because you caught me in a good mood, I'll sell you the cue with the original shaft for $200 if you will pay the shipping.

If you don't like it, send it back for a full refund minus shipping. I am not a dealer...just a guy who has an extra set and who can be nice every once in a great while.

Check out the exact model here... http://www.americancues.com/pool-cues-1/balabushka-cues-7/balabushka-pool-cue-gb9-401.html

Got it hahahahahahaaaaaaaa

I too like traditional Bushka and Hoppe style cues. When I returned to pool after a 25 year sabatical I bought a Lucasi Bushka style cue from the Billiard Warehouse. It was a limited edition with a leather wrap, a white phenolic joint, and a radial pin. I paid $200 for it. I bought it to use while I was having my old Josswest refinished but it turned out to be a very nice cue much to my surprise. I've since sold it but my point is that a Lucasi can be a very nice cue for a small investment. They guarantee their cues against warpage along with McDermott and Viking I believe which is huge.

I have other more expensive cues now but have had a couple shafts warp. Jerry Powers of Jerico Cues simply told me to return the entire cue so he could check it out. His customer service is excellent. Other custom cuemakers are often defensive about warpage and won't do a thing and I honestly understand. It's a dicey thing at best. The bottom line is that if I couldn't afford to buy a custom cue from a maker that I had confidence in I would strongly consider one of the production companies that guaranties against warpage. For me, McDermott's being made in the USA is a plus but I hate their ferrule material. If you change it you void the warranty. Lucasi is made in China and the quality is generally good. I'd trust the guys at The Billiard Warehouse to hand pick a cue for me. I didn't comment about Viking because I don't have any experience with them. Good luck...Tom

Can't go wrong with a Frey. I have an early 90's Frey sp with a piloted joint which shoots lights out. They will last you a long time, and are generally easy to sell if you decide you want something else. Check out his cues at cuesnthings.com
. You can also shoot Jon P. Nusbaum a pm. Can't imagine someone better to business with.

Any recomendatios on wood ,joints, etc? And anyone knows what difference that brass insert on the shaft(where the pin screws)makes?

Same recomendation I gave you 15 posts ago, go hit a bunch of cues and see what you like, I understand the intent of your thread but its sort of like asking someone, "what should I have for lunch?" only you know what you like and the hit of a cue is impossible to describe in a thread.

i know that and you're right .i'm a sking about things that are more ''general''.for example ''flat faced joint gives better feedback'' or such things...

I will join the recommendation on the Lucasi, they have nice hit to them and you get a lot of cue for the money.
Billiard Warehouse still have a couple of the classic looking cues.

If you're looking for something better for around $600 look at Jacoby cues
I think this cue has what you need with a guaranteed quality and they have a great hit and feel.
Check out this cue, it has all that you want for $495

Going from what you said you're looking for, I'd contact Steve Klein.
Plenty of options, great cues, and great prices-

Jerico Cue

Jerry's cues are absolutely great and well within your price range! I would suggest going to billiardwarehouse.com they carry his cues and have a solid 30 day trial policy.
