Hey guys, I currently have a 8ft table in a spare room at my house. The problem Im having is being wall hooked a lot. The room is plenty long enough but I'm only looking at 141 inches across.Which is only 11 3/4 foot. Im talking about the width of the room/long rail sides of the table. I want to take it out and go with a barbox. My question is, will it be worth the hassle, because Iam unsure of how much of a difference it is going to make? I know that they dont cost very much, so that shouldnt be a problem. I just know that it is a smaller table and it has to help some. I was just looking for a little help. This is the biggest room in the house also. Thanks.

Hi! You will need at least 14 ft wide to accomodate a barbox without hitting the walls.

If you google it you can find a site that gives you the exact dimensions. Hope this helps.

Man, that sucks.... I dunno what Imma do then.

What is it you need to practice on? The table can still be put to good use by practicing drills an like long straight in shots, long cut shots , rail shots position shots , ect. Believe me this will do more for your game than just playing on it. I do this daily.

Yeah, thats what I'm using the 8 ft table for. I was just curious if a 7ft table would be worth the trouble. I guess I will wait till I get a bigger house or one with a garage would be a better idea. For now I will stick with the 8footer. All I do is practice on this table. The occasional game will be shot on it but its really not practical.

7 foot barbox playing area is 39" wide, so add 58" to each side for a standard cue would need 155" , and that still leaves you dead to the wall if the cue ball is on the rail. You won't even get a 6 foot barbox into that room without short cues or jacking up.

Is it possible to take a wall out ? even load bearing walls are fairly easy to take out...this depends of course what is on the other side of the wall..if you want that open to the other room..

You won't benefit from a 7' table as you are only gaining 6 inches total, or 3" per side. I suggest you get a 42" cue and you'll be golden. They are about $30.

Here's a room size calculator for five different size tables. The calculator shows the room size needed for each kind of table with different cue lengths and stroking room. The box on top shows what's needed for full size (58") cues and stroking room ranging from 12" down to 3".

The bottom table shows what size cues would give you the same stroking room (12" to 3") in your 141" (11'-9") wide room. With the smallest 7-foot table (at bottom of chart), to have 3 inches of stroking room on each side, you'll have to cut 9.5" off a 58" cue (leaving 48.5" as in the bottom right example).
