Hi,

According to AZ's Tournament page Hampton Ridge is at Drexeline Billiards this Sunday March 6th. I called Drexeline to find out what time they open and they said the tournament is on Saturday March 6th. There is noticably some confusion here, the date may be confused and that's okay; but, does anyone know for a fact what DAY Hampton Ridge is at Drexeline Billiards? I would think the people who run Drexeline would know but it seems the do not.

I've never known drexeline to have a 1 day tournament on saturday, and i've played there since it opened 15 years ago.
I'll check tonight, and get back to you.

Odds are it is on sunday.

I guess your the one who called, and then called back.

They know all about the guy who thought that the 6th was a saturday.
He has since changed his tune, so that the correct information is being given out.

DEFINITELY on Sunday.

Thanks Superstar,

If anyone is interested, Drexeline opens at 9:00 am and would like everyone they by 10:30.

I've never been to a Hampton Ridge tournament before.

From what I can ascertain from the Tournament Sections of the AzBilliards Home page, this is a one-day event occurring on Sunday, March 6th.

What is the entry fee, and do they have a website where one can get more information?

Is there a membership fee due for first-timers, much like PP 9-Ball Tour and Joss Tour?

If the place opens up at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, what is the actual registration or check-in time?

Looks like Frankie Hernandez wins quite a few of these Hampton Ridge tournaments!

This is the second year of the event. They have upped the added money per event to $1000, compared to last year's $500. I don't know if that depends on a full field or not. The entry fee is $70 for non-pro men (I might be off $5 or so dollars either way, as its from memory). Tour fee is $30, or $15 per event if you are not a member (again, I might be off a few dollars). But if you play in 2 events paying $15 each time, you will then automatically be a member. Each event is 1 day.

Men touring pro's pay $100. Female touring pro's pay in the $75 range, and non-pro females pay a bit less than that.

Like other tours, this one gives out points based on the player's performance and attendance. At the end of the season, the tour leader will get a $5000 entry into Hopkin's 2006 televised 9-ball skin game. This should bring out a lot of top players in our area, that might otherwise not go to every event. Last year the tour leader got an entry into either Hopkin's Valley Forge event or the Philly Adam's Mark Tournament (I forget which).

There is also a championship event at the end of the season. Last year, the winner of that got $1500, plus an entry into the US open. You have to play in at least 7 events, however, to be allowed to play in the tour championship.

Drexeline offically opens at 9:00, but most days there are people there from 7:00 and even before then if you want to come earlier.

They don't have a website up yet, as far as I know. But all the members get a flyer in the mail.

This year should be much better than last, considering the additional added money per event, and the $5000 skins entry going to the top player. The field is usually quite storng, with several open class players competing.

I have the flyer in front of me now. The following is correct:

Entry Fees:
$70 Male
$110 Male Pro
$45 Female
$85 Female Pro
$30 Tour fee

$1,000 added per event
$10,000 added Tour Championship (must play in 8 normal events to qualify)
Points leader gets $5,000 entry into 2006 skins game

All added money based on 50 player fields

So it is not a handicapped tournament, and the "pros" pay a higher entry fee. I may try to get there this Sunday since it's not too far a drive from my home.

I like Drexeline Billiards. It's a wonderful pool room. Half of the pool world is at the Sands bar-box tourney in Reno, and the other half at the Viking event in Chicago. The Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour is having a $5,000-added tournament at Ultimate Billiards in Berlin, Connecticut, this weekend, too.

Great opportunities out there in the month of March for the pool player (IMO).
