Need help with table felt-Velocity Pro vs. Simonis

Does anyone have any info on Velocity Pro felt. Is it as good as Simonis? How does it play? Is it recommended?

I have a friend who is getting his table recovered and was asking about this type of felt. I'm not familiar with it, so I am unable to help him make a decision.

I recommended Simonis, however, the Velocity Pro is supposed to be much cheaper in price.

Any help is appreciated.

IMO if price is not a factor Simonis is the best. At the Colorado Cue Club we tried the Pro Velocity on all of our Barboxes and we are very pleased with it. Durability is an unknown, but we had them done in February and they seem to be holding up pretty well. All in all the PV is probably a very good buy. But Simonis is the proven long term go to guy. I think we'll be sticking with the Simonis on our 9 footers and Pv on the Barboxes.

hope that helps.

I have it on my 9ft at home and I'm loving it. When I end up with a different table I'll probably do Simonis just for consistency, but I have no complaints about the durability on the Velocity cloth. It's fast!

Its as fast as simonis if not faster. Durability is still in question because it has not been out that long, but some say its lasting just as well. I do know you need to be carefull not to over stretch it or the balls will track.

is anything faster than simonis good for practice?
I think you want to practice on the same kind of cloth that you are going to play on in competition. If you want the fastest possible cloth, get Simonis 300 Super Rapide. On a pool table I see a couple of problems. If your table is not level, a faster cloth will really bring out the rolls. (On a rug, the ball stops so quickly it doesn't have time to roll off.) The other is that it will be very difficult to control the cue ball on shots where you want it to stop shortly after contact. It will continue to roll a lot farther for the same shot. I think Simonis 300 will roll about twice as far as 860 for a particular shot (not counting cushions) depending on installation and care.
