Hello everybody, this thread is a request for help from somebody who knows how to update and make changes to a web page! I have a small web site designed to keep my family and friend informed of my pool playing adventures! www.fingers9ball.com My problem is that I no longer have a person who can make changes and updates to my site. I can do some basic stuff myself, such as adding some text and pics but sinced I am not a web site designer nor do I have much experience with the workings of a web page I can not add pages or links to other sites or archive past achievements or set up advertisements on my site. I am in desperate need of a web page mechanic so to speak!
I would love to find someone who knows how to do this kind of stuff and would be willing to pay for you time.
The web page is finished but I need some updates from time to time so I don't think anything I need done would require a lot of time!

If you are a web page designer and know how to use MACROMEDIA DREAMWEAVER, please email me at:

I have been trying to fool around with that stuff.. I am just a basic HTML coder.

http:\\pages.videotron.com\rdaniels

The site hasn't been updated for almost a year.. But, at least that gives you the level I am at .. LOL .. I would much perfer to have your site though.

what do you need??
Actually, you should perhaps consider a CMS for your site (Content Management System). With something like that updating pages CAN come as easy as editing text in Word for example...
I have done pages like
www.uwpiaa.org
www.rackem.de
www.pbckaarst-ev.de

perhaps I can help you if you tell me what you need done exactly

cheers,
Kimmo

Welcome to the world of HTML coding. You might want to know before you dig deeper, that URLs require the proper slashes to work. Notice above that your URL didn't automatically hyperlink? That's because you used backslashes ("\") and not forward slashes ("/"). The way you tell the difference, is if the slash "leans in the same direction" that you read a sentence (i.e. from left to right), it's a forward slash. That's the slash you want to use in your URLs. The other slash, the backslash, is used in Microsoft Windoze, to denote driveletter/pathnames (e.g. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office"). The slashes are not interchangeable, even though you might be able to "get away with" using backslashes in URLs typed into your web browser. (In that case, it's a matter of FireFox or Internet Explorer or Chrome automatically "fixing" the URL for you.)

For your URLs to work, you have to use the forward slash, not the backslash. So your URL should be:

http://pages.videotron.com/rdaniels
(Notice how this one hyperlinks this time.)

I'd take you up on your offer, but honestly I'm so wrapped up (and covered up) in other things at the moment, that I'm actually backlogged. And what little personal time I have, I want to spend away from computers with my lady. ;) I'm sure you'll find someone here, though, that will be able to help you keep your site up-to-date.

Warmest regards,
-Sean

I am a webmaster for several billiard related websites, so this advice comes from experience:

Even though you now have a website, I would personally move toward a blog. Since the website seems mostly like updates, a blog is the perfect avenue/venue. You would be able to update it yourself and you would not need to pay anyone.

Anyway, just my two cents worth today.

Good luck!
