Need Info On Older Nick Varner Owned Joss

A friend acquired this older Joss. It was bought from Nick Varner, and I was told he was playing with this cue at the time. There is a catalog model similar to this one, but different colors. I was wondering if there are any Joss experts who could help out with some info on whether this is a 1 of a kind Joss made for Nick? A ballpark value would also be appreciated, since this will be going up for sale soon.

It looks like the standard model to me. Sometimes different stains and veneers were used on various models but they were still the same model.

Considering the claimed provenance, I would ask Dan Janes directly if he knows the cue.

Wouldn't hurt to get a letter from Varner too if possible.

Just spoke to Nick, First thing is top measure the cue. If it measures 57 ins it was one that Nick played with.

Great idea. I didn't even think of it. The standard JOSS was 58 and Varner plays 57.

If it's just a short shaft...then it's a custom shaft. But if that thing is actually a 28 1/2 butt I think it would be a real find I think...made for Nick.

Exactly, it has to be 28 1/2 shaft and butt. However there is one out there he told me that is the one he won all those tourneys will one year and he thinks that is worth something. Well I am sure it is to him and for memorabilia.

I know the fellow who owns that cue. According to him, Nick used it from 1984 to October 1990. It is in original condition and shows the scars of many successful conquests. Sadly, he's not selling.

I'm familiar with the cue in question that Nick won like....15 consecutive pro events one year with. Actually, not a very fancy JOSS....and at some point I remember it being for sale on the old Wright Cue Company website along with the famous Mike Sigel JOSS.

You know how hard I've tried Mark. His affliction is so obvious that I am certain I betray no confidence in reporting to you that the prognosis is not good. If only I could convince him of his self worth he might shake off the crushing shyness that torments him, but I'm afraid it's hopeless.
