Need Pocket Size Advice.

I have an 8 foot olhausen reno.

Reno's come with 5 inch pockets.

I want to narrow them a bit.

Should I narrow them to 4 1/2 or 4 1/4. Need opinions please.

I would leave them alone/ I double shim my pockets and ... now its almost impossible to drill a shot.... pockets spits the ball out more times than excepting it ..... I think i would leave them the size it came..... When i recover my table i am gonna take the shims out ....they are 4 -3/8 now.

measure the pockets you compete or gamble on

I am a fan of tight pockets for some of your practice however I believe it is a bad idea to practice constantly on a table with tight pockets. It will subtly change your shot selection and what your idea of leaving a cue ball in a safe place is.

When everything is taken into consideration unless you hit the pool hall every day I recommend having the pockets cut to take balls about the same as the tables you compete or gamble on.

One question: Did you measure a side pocket or corner pocket?
