Hi,

I have a customer who wants me to build his cue as a bumperless style.

I have neve done this and was wondering where I can buy the crome back plates that I have seem for this use by other CMs.

I remember seeing this on Prather's website but they don't seem to be advertising this anymore.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick

Get polished stainless steel bolts. I found a few web sites for customizing cars and motorcycles that sell individual pieces. MOst of those places usually want to sell in bulk

Maybe I am reading the request wrong. But it seems Rick is looking for Chrome or stainless butt plate material and not weight bolt material.

Hey Chris,

Do you sell them? I will probably need some different length weight bolts with the polished ends as I need to make this cue on the money concerning weight and balance.

I did not know you could get a butt plate but when all is said and done that's what I might need.

Chrome butt plate

I am pretty sure that he meant the butt plate being chrome, as some of the newer production cues now have.
Myself, I would go with a nice phenolic butt plate, and then a nice polished screw as mentioned above.
Some of the vintage Hoppe style cues look so good built this way, and it's a lot harder to damage than most would think.

I've had luck with sanding any imperfections out, going down through the grits, then polishing stainless bolts to get a mirror like finish. I use a smaller bore for My bumpers to fit in, so the head gets turned down some anyhow. Shame they just get covered up in the end though.
