Ok i jsut got back to playing pool about 1 1/2 months ago and have been trying a few diffrent cues and such out. lots of new things since i stopped playing have come out.

Im looking for some help with JUMP/BREAK Cues.
We have a SledgeHammer I & a SledgeHammer II ( McDermott) which we have been testing and both are really good in my mind the SledgeHammer II is a far better BREAK CUE than the I. As far as jumping they both seem about the same.

Ok if money wasnt a problem and you jsut wanted the BEST BREAK/JUMP which of the following would you choose OR name another you know of and a contact for the cue you name pls.

1. Sledge Hammer I
2. Sledge Hammer II
3. Stinger
4. XBreaker

Ok i need some HONEST help on this I dont want people posting about 1 cue over the other simply cause the maker of that cue posts here alot and you dont want to hurt their feelings. Also in the room i play at we have LOTS i means LOTS of BANGERS but after seeing me break with these cues and trying them out they also one but when they see the price they FAINT.
Has anyone tried the ( J&J Break Jumps ) and would they be good for starting players.

ty in advance for the info .

I'm not a fan of the Jump/Break cue at all. I truly believe in getting two seperate sticks. Seperately, they are made for the sole purpose of one job. Combo cues surely are giving up something so that they can become one cue. Just giving you a consideration in thinking.

I prefer Bunjee for jumps, because I feel it gets the ball airborne faster with less force. I have tried quite a few of these. I also happen to be a fan of Predator break cues. I like the original better the BK2.

I use to have a J&J it worked alright, but left some clusters when I broke. Decided to switch to an Xbreaker and have had quiet a bit more success with the break spread and making one on the break. Jumping with it is a breeze.
Overall I would go with the Xbreaker. Great deal for the money.

I just bought a J&J and it arrived the other day. So far when I've horsed around with it it has been great. It jumps like a dream and it hits them a ton. For the money you can't beat it. I got mine brand new for 60 bucks on ebay.

sledgehammer I over sledgehammer II, but if I was starting from scrath I would choose the X-breaker. It holds chalk better & provides more cue ball control.

nice thanks for the help with this i think we are gonna try and pick up some of the J&J Break/jump Cues on ebay . As far as break cues go it seems more like the xbreaker so far.

Well if money isnt a problem, I would go with a Gilbert JB, over a sledgehammer anyday.

But thats my opinion. Now, i do know several guys who have a sledgehammer and really like breaking with them, and also can jump fairly easily with them too.

As for the Xbreaker and the Stinger, i dont know anyone who has them, but most people in my area, have a Predator BK, or a sledgehammer, or a Gilbert JB.

i agree on j&j. 60$ for mine to, if ur lucky u can find them for 27$ on ebay without reserve, or 39$ buy them now. i had never been able to jump a ball in 5 months i played, got my j&j 2days ago, and used it yesterday for the first time. Took me 2 tries to do the first jump, then i jumped 19/20 times. then i trained aiming and jump, took me 2 minuts (just holded the cue different), then i started potting balls and jumping, took me 5minuts. in total after 15 minuts i was jumping like a rabit and potting balls full cross table lenght without any problem. jumping is a mith that it is a hard shotn yes it looks amazing, but it SO simple with the j&j. my partner was also training and just couldnt jump with her cue ( a simple jumpcue, no j/b, i lended her my j&j, and after 5 minuts she was jumping and potting.

about the break, i didnt have clusters left, 50%+ of the balls on my 8breaks would be on the other side of the table. So evenly spread , just perfect to clean out a rack. i think it hits a TON and has this sexy "snap" sound.

The xbreaker is very temping!! and the hype is all worth it, BUT i prefere to pay 39$ over 350$, even if the xbreaker players 5% better, i think its silly to pay 300$ for 5% better, 5% better wont make u pot more balls on the break, its all about luck, as long as it dont leaves clusters and are spread, thats all u want.

100% for the j&j.

Sols,

When people say jumping is a hard shot, I'm sure they are referring to the days before jump cues. Using your shooting cue to jump is much more difficult and has given some people quite a fit. If they tried a jump cue, it wouldn't seem that hard to them. It is still a fairly new item as far as equipment is concerned in the sport.

I have a J&J break/jump 2719 (standard 4 pointer), Palmwood forearm, and I like it a lot. I got mine off Ebay, have $45 invested, and I personally rated it as having the quality of a $225 stick. The phenolic tip and ferrule (1/2") I like, and not a problem for me. Solly in Belgium (Solartje on here) just got
his J&J and loves it. He paid the $70 retail that you can get it for.
Best for the buck, and good starter break/jump IMO. Love the quick release joints.

Best overall, especially quality, would be the Xbreaker, IMO.

well so far it seems the Xbreaker may be a Slight fav BUTTTTT the J&J running a real close second and for the $$$$$$ im gonna have to agree and go with them to sell for the average players and give 1 a try for myself.

i dont mind playing with cheap cues LOL if i went to a J&J Jump/Break that would bring the total playing cost of my Cues down to UNDER $100 LMAO and im not a average player by any means. We tried out the KC Cues from ebay and im playing with a 6pointer and it plays GREATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Ok anyone with any more info on any of the above mentioned cues like a good place to order these cues Wholesale would be nice.

i think almost all stores sell them for the same retail price. if u want cheaper

A/ ebay (no reserve, u can get it for 27$ or maybe even lower)
B/ ebay minimum price, u can buy them for 39,99$ starting bid, and usually there is only one or two, or no bidders. just wait till last hour, and if no one bid, place the minimum bid and its yours
C/ Carl's cues. He does a deal of 100$ for a j&j j/b cue + a case wich is very very nice as snapshot will tel u (but its a deal of u buy another cue from him... but maybe u can work something out with him.)
D/ Be sure when u order, to order the F version, 2719F, 2724F, etc. The F means its the j/b cue with the phenolic tip wich u really need. the F versions usually cost 5$ more. Personally the 2724F looks AMAAAAAAAAAZING!!!!

aparantly there arent many for sale this week, but there is this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/J-J-Jump-Break-...ryZ21212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

ps my total of my cues is under 100$ and im not a bad player too :p i actually also play with a j&j cue....
