Though the plastic looks McDermott it is obviously sleeved over the original as a repair, and the original is a different material.
In addition, the contour of the recess for the head of the weight bolt is different for the B, C, and D Series cues. I am not 100% certain about earlier than B Series (M/R series, now known as A series) as it has been too many years since I have seen one. I do believe they used the same weight bolt as B, C, and D series though. As far as the production series cues, they had no points until the B series cues, so we are back to the certainty of the wrong weight bolt.
Yes, McDermott made custom cues. So all that could be out the window. Except as I said you can see in the pictures that the butt cap is a sleeved repair and not original.
An interesting notion is that this cue could have been repaired by Jim McDermott using McDermott butt cap plastic. Now that I might buy into. :thumbup:
