Hi All.

Things have been changing with our beloved wonderful air carriers lately.

Questions:

Can you carry on a cue case? (I would hate to check in a valuable cue, or any decent cue for that matter because of heat, banging around etc. Not to mention hits to a decent case.)

If needing to check in, what case would you recommend for flight, (what protects the best)?

Thanks.

You can't carry on a cue. You will have to check it. I suggest using a big rolling duffle bag with a bottom compartment to put the cue case in and pack some things around it. There are multiple threads on this forum regarding this issue so you may want to search those out.

You can't take your cues as a carry on. So....I would invest in a travel case that your cue case fits into. Check out some billiard catalogs or on-line.

Air travel w/a cue . . .

I can't imagine what today's air carriers could do a checked in cue. Oh dear GOD ! ! !

Not to mention you now would have to pay a "checked" baggage charge ranging anywhere from $35 - $50.

If you had enough lead time, and taking you cue(s) was a must, you'd almost be better using two day FedEx. With insurance of course!

The large dufflebag is the way to go. Pack your entire cue case inside and fill with your clothes and whatever.

If you they super nice or important to you I would reccomend having them shipped to a fed ex or UPS store near your destination and then just go there to pick them up. I have had some scary experiences having things shipped to hotels.

If you dont want to ship them get the duffle like the previous poster said. Get a tough but cheap looking case to put them in and surround it with clothes in the duffle . I have not had any problems but there are a million horror stories out there. One thing I will never check is cameras and computers.

Its a good idea to also find a sneaky pete type cue that hits good that you can travel with. That way if it gets stolen or damaged its not the end of the world.

I speak from experience having had to fade my only personal apocalypse now when Fed Ex lost my Gus/Justis/Xbreaker for 3 days when i travelled to Atlanta to play pool a few years back.
