hi, im looking to get my first custom, and i was wondering on how to get amboyna burl + curly maple to match.
any ideas?
your suggestion is greatly appreciated. =)
 
I would probably post in the cue makers or cue gallery sections. Somebody out there most likely has this combo in a cue. Good luck.
 
was wondering if this combination(pointer+butterfly splice) would be nice

also, does anyone know the difference between different kinds of curly maple? such as hard curly maple, tiger curly maple, etc

Burl points into a curly maple forearm would look great. No matching required. I think it would look especially nice with a black/white/lt green/white veeneer combo and a brown or redish brown lizard wrap.

Just make sure that your cuemaker cores the thing. Curly maple and burl is a receipe for a pretzel . . . ;)
 
Here's my Amb. burl & curly combo. I think your choice of woods look great together and the idea of adding butterflys would be awesome. Good luck!

oh..so its black/white/light green/white(from outer to inner, i presume?)
btw what did u mean by its a recipe for pretzel, something to do with the coring?

Hi,
You are welcome to look at my website. TXQ0069 is cored amboyna burl. I am currently mating a new OB-1 shaft to it to show that I do offer it as an option on my cues. I will weigh the cue after clearcoating. It should be in the mid 19's. Let me know what you think. (www.triplecrosscues.com)

I believe hes saying that without coring a burl/maple forearm the cue could "warp" into the shape of a pretzel. :rolleyes:

my 2 cents - burl w/ ebony > burl w/ curly

IMO
well the reason why i dont like ebony is because, its all black, i cant see any figuring, i find it abit pointless unless i want a plain jane.

just my 2cents
