hi, im looking to get my first custom, and i was wondering on what veneers to fit on amboyna burl + curly maple.. also, would butterfly+pointer look nice?
any other ideas?
your suggestion is greatly appreciated. =)
 
I am a fan of flame veneers on a cue. I have a Mike Webb with an amboyna forearm and flame veneers around ebony high points and it came out very nicely.

sorry, but flaming veneers = white yellow orange red black right?
 
I just ordered a birdseye forearm with 4 amboyna points, curly handle with Amboyna buttsleeve. The veneers are inside out; Natural, Green, Green, Black.

I wanted something to set off the color and figure of the Amboyna without taking away from it. Thanks to the cuesmith I decided to go with this choice, I wasn't exactly sure until I saw how it would look, but I think it's going to be just what I wanted. I only have a rough picture at this point, but when I get a better pic of it's progress I'll be happy to show it to you if you'd like to see.

btw the 2 greens are lighter on the inside and darker on the outside or the same tone?
 
was wondering if this combination(pointer+butterfly splice) would be nice

changing the ebony to amboyna burl
and aso changing the pink/red to curly maple + curly maple forearm.
brown lizard wrap, amboyna burl butt but not sure abt what inlays to use.(MOP, ivory, etc)

also, does anyone know the difference between different kinds of curly maple? such as hard curly maple, tiger curly maple, etc
 
You might want to try (from inside out): white, yellow, orange, black. *Assuming amboyna pts into curly nose*

For the inlays, I would go for ivory rather than MOP. It just seems to stand out better on burl than the latter.

I chose natural, orange, red, and black from in to out. But yes you are correct

yup its burl points into curly. hmm so the same veneers apply for the butterfly splice too?

I'D GO MAPLE, BABY BLUE, BROWN BLACK.
