I've been watching this FORUM for a little while. But I found this AD on CL local to my area and I wonder if this sale has any merit.

AD READS:
Mcdermott EK-5 circa 1990-1995 original price $545. Market Value $665. Appreciation 22% McDermott E-K5: Birdseye Maple forearm, three long black & red floating points and three short black floating points, Ebony butt sleeve with intricate pattern of red dymondwood and pearl inlays. Engraved clover logo black leather wrap. The E-K Series was McDermott's first production model to incorporate a 5/16"-14 stainless steel joint, which ensures its collectibility.

He's asking $300 and wonder if that's WAY high/middle road or GREAT DEAL!

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Beautiful cue. If it is in excellent condition (I did not see anything in the ad ref condition/straightness, etc), and I was looking for a good playing cue, I would not have a problem buying it....you might even offer him $250 and get a better deal...you just never know.

Here are pix (one is offerred on McDermott's site for $400):

I don't know about collectable, but I agree with Joe it's a nice looking cue and for that amount of money how can you loose? Offer $250 and see, but give him $300 if it's in good shape and straight. Pull the trigger or you won't have the chance.
