Does anyone know where I can find a 5C collet that has a MT2 bore in it? I don't know if there is even one made. I am trying out an idea and using this collet would be the easiest way to go. Thanks Chris.

They are mostly round, tho I have seen both hex and square
versions in catalogs.
As all collets, they are designed to hold a workpiece, so even
boring the inside would be unlikely due to the typical
thin-ish wall.
There are 'emergency' 5C blanks. Come in brass, and more commonly,
nylon. You might try boring one of them to a MT2 taper.
Chris,
The only manufacturer I know of that sells 5C to Morse taper collets of the rack is Hardinge. http://hardingetooling.com/index.asp
Hardinge charges $115 for one though.
Ther MT#1 is Hardinge, The MT#2 is not. I don't know who manufactured the MT#2 but the taper is good.
I will take $50 delivered for the 5C to MT#2 collet pictured if you want to buy my extra. I don't often see them go any lower on ebay.
I would recomend that you stay away from the cheap chiwaneese collets in most instances.
Hardinge and UK made Royal are some of the best. Lyndex and Pratt/Bernard are Ok also. Many of the cheap import collets you find will be junk right out of the box.
