Nelsonite No More!

Considering the person selling it tripled the price of nelsonite, I would be wary. He also claims you cannot buy nelsonite for the price of the "new product", but last time I bought 5 gallons of it, it was only $57.

Not too sure what you mean Joey. The way I see it, that price was
23.25
12.50
35.75 delivered to your door. (expensive)

OOOPS, my bad.
It's $80 for a 5 gallon container according to Nelsonite.

Does anyone know if the naphtha is what actually stablizes the wood or are there other chemicals as well? As I understand it the mineral spirits is just a carrier of the stabilization chemical(s) If the naphtha is what does it why (other than the fire risk) not just dip the wood in it undiluted. Any thoughts? Chris.

The naptha does nothing to stabilize the wood. The oils and resins are what do the stabilizing, and the new product contains much less naptha. The solvents allow the oils and resins to penetrate into the wood rather than just coating it.
