Netflix drama series featuring pool

Since my significant other is a fanatic of Asian TV dramas, this flew across her radar. Chinese series about a love story between two young pool players. 30 episodes are planned, I watched the first one and they were not playing pool yet, only showing the female lead's cue case. I'm interested to see how the pool scenes look.

"When a billiards savant meets an elite player, their spark inspires him to win her over by taking another shot at the professional career he left behind."

Actually, the pool and snooker scenes weren't bad at all. The actors did a good job learning to play. Plus, they got better as the series went on. I wonder who the tech advisor was.

The pool scenes are great. If a big time movie star couldnt make the shot could they CGI the balls. These Asian stars pocket great shots and the runouts make sense.

Since Asia is a hotbed for pool, this show has real potential.
Plus Asian women are ultra sweet, educated, polite and attractive!

Sounds bingeworthy to me in lots of ways.

I checked it out after seeing this thread and watched 3 episodes. Not sure if I’ll watch any more. It’s very slow moving and centers solely around this relationship between two characters. So far, not enough pool related to keep my interest, but I may give it a few more episodes to see if it gets any better.

These types of dramas have a very slow buildup. This drama is 30 episodes long. The better pool scenes come later in the drama.

So is it worth continuing to watch? I’ve now watched 4 episodes - a little more pool scenes in the 4th episode. The pool and snooker clubs in the movie look very nice, except that they use cheap plastic racks. As a room owner / operator, I notice little stuff like that.

Well, it's a love story. Pool and snooker are secondary to the story. But I think it's a good glimpse into the cue sports training clubs in China and how they operate. They're very well organized with coaches and daily training schedules for their players.

Are pool rooms allowed to sell fresh porridge of fresh cut fruit? I keep hoping they carry salads.
Ive said it before and I will say it again, pool rooms need to offer better food, same at pool tournaments.
There should be a director of nutrition to promote proper eating in the youth.
Some people under eat and require an eating partner.
Other people over eat the wrong foods and require a discipline partner.
Its like hiring a boyfriend but not a boyfriend.

Episode 12 the first over seas tournament episode has some great moments.

Episode 13 is filmed like a pool movie.

I fast forwarded through the 21 total episodes to catch the pool and snooker scenes. I was impressed that the snooker tournament scenes towards the end of the movie were quite accurate in terms of the player’s form, the shots, the scoring and the strategy.

The only thing I caught as not being accurate for a professional level championship snooker event was the matches consisted of a single frame only, I’m sure in order to fit the script.

The way the shots were filmed, its a nice edit. I can't tell on the snooker side, but I am starting to learn the game fast.

hmm, most clubs have coaches you can pay for... Quality varies... My good friend used to be a snooker coach at an awesome club called Panda Q. He moved to Zhuhai to start his own hall. I'll watch the show, and tell you if it aligns with what I've experienced. Some people throw obscene amounts of money at the game here.

All the pool / snooker rooms shown in the movie are absolutely immaculate. I found it hard to tell from watching the show as to which is more popular over there, pool or snooker?

Unless you are caught up in an extremely slow developing love story, instead of watching the nearly 20 hours, just use your fast forward buttons on your remote and stop and watch the pool/snooker scenes. That way you can watch the whole thing in just a couple hours.
