Never Before

This is the first time in my life I have ever felt this way...I am disgusted , I'm ready to give up playing !! Done with the mindless low life mentality. I liked it better when I was boxing...Talk s#*t get hit...better the rebuke of the wise then the singing of fools.
I have 6 custom tables , lights and spectator chairs. I am in the process of opening a room here in the Keys and for the first time in my life I ready to walk away from it all before it's even opened !!!
I feel like venting , but it feels much worse..sorry for the rant

I tried to open a room in Key West about 35 years ago and you would think I was dealing with the Mafia. That is one corrupt place. Honestly, I can't imagine a pool room with 6 tables making any money, but most of all what I learned over the years having owned a couple of pool rooms. I have no interest in being in business in a place that from the start is telling me they don't want me there. They can make your life miserable and who needs that. If it is as bad as you say, forget about it then, open one somewhere else.

its not all that much fun
i run errands etc

i spent the summer teaching kids at my wifes school
no pay

its more fun to do something

if pool rooms is what you know, then open a pool room

if you have a better idea do that

quit complaining and put you neck to the yoke

good luck
don't cater to the pool players

no free pool
get a better grade of customer
and other advice

There are some guys at our local poolroom that could contribute to helping any new poolroom developing a base of new customers. Ones that can't run 3 balls can amaze you with their masse shots and jump shots on any new cloth. A few others can shout the F word at near 150 decibles when a ball fails to lumber into a 5" pocket. A couple patrons don't mind resting drinks on a nearby table or that meatball sub dripping with extra sauce and cheese. We have a few cue twirlers that can spin a stick like an airplane propeller, but they can not hit the urinal in the mens room. They may work part time operating rides at the carnival or compete at being a human canvas at any new tatoo shop. Some don't use the mens room at all if it's dark outside. Don't leave your jacket unattended. Someone will go through the pockets for your car keys and then search for car for anything of value. There are some good players that can run 3 or 4 racks, but I wonder why they whine, saying they need a handicap in every tournament. They'll offer to play your kid for $5 too. Best of all is the kid at the counter. He likes Acid Rock music and believes he is trying to fill a stadium with sound while you enjoy a game of straight pool or one-pocket. Nice carpet man....is it ok if I bring my dog in here too?

This post is golden. Mind if I use it on FB? I'll give you credit.

Just so I understand what you are talking about, are you referring to the bureaucracy you are running into?
