New Cloth - Dying Off Rails

Ok, i figure this is the place to get an answer. I've noticed with this new Simonis 860 cloth that some shots just seem to die coming off the rails as opposed to the old cloth i just had taken off.

as an example i had a ball close to the corner pocket and i tried to hit it with high inside (high right) to get it to spin around and come back towards the long rail and then spin down table. but it just seemed to die.

Is it because the new cloth works against any follow, tries to fight it? or perhaps it "slides" off the rails and just dies instead of picking up steam?

Not sure how to use the Wei Table anymore. i used to, but not anymore. i got crucified BIG time for any shots i posted. but i'll see if i cant figure this Wei Table stuff out.

CueTable Help

ok, i am going to give this a try. not sure i've got this right, but perhaps someone can help if this shot doesnt show up.

daggone, it actually worked. anyway, here's the basic shot. i wanted to go high inside (right) and come around to Point A but the ball died coming off the rail and ended up about Point B.

Mike, this is the same thing as was discussed earlier. It's not straight in, but you get the same problem. You need some follow, a lot of right english. The right english is what brings you around, not the follow.

ok, so, where should i have hit the CB? 1:00? 3:00? 2:00? i think i tried 2:00 but like i said, it died coming off the rail. it just seemed to lose speed as it came off the short rail.

Well, yes, but the problem is his new cloth. The side spin does not grab on the new cloth because it is slippery. Often on such shots on new cloth, the cue ball will come to a stop with side spin still left. If the cue ball does come to a stop with side spin still left, you had too much side spin, and adding more won't help. Also, if he made the mistake of waxing the cue ball, the slipping problem will be worse.

I think you might be right Bob. now that i think of it, the CB was spinning when it came to a stop. and i didnt wax the CB, but i did use the Aramith ball cleaner on it 2-3 days ago, with the micro-fiber cloth.

i think i'll set this shot up again tonight and do some experimenting. i'd like to do some experimenting with the drop dead gorgeous woman i just sat in an hour long meeting with. wowsa!!!

the side spin will move the rock much farther than the draw/follow in most cases. It took me way to long to learn this.

i shoot this shot over and over on this new cloth of mine. all it does is just keep dying when it comes off the rail. however, it sure does spin alot. the ball just keeps spinning, but it doesnt go anywhere, it just dies and keeps on spinning.

yea brother if you got new cloth its got the finest peach fuzz on it......usually it takes a while to knock it away with brushing and playing.......

dartman told me a trick when I installed my home table.....get a micofiber towel and dampen it and wipe the table down with it for a few days or so......

the microfiber works really great on the cloth for "breaking" it in faster....

you can think of it this way too....the more slippery/new the cloth the more bit of follow than spin your going to want.....if it grabs, then more spin than follow to get around
