its not my fault if someone takes more steps than nessasary, why wouldnt they just glue them all at once? oh wait this is where you would say it cant be done. although its good to see you got off that statement..... did you ask yourself all those ?s , or did you realize the capabilities of cnc.
They cannot cut them all at once because they are called RECUTS. Hence the name. The best you can do is to glue all of one veneer at one time. But it still requires removal from whatever you have making the pockets to setting in a glue jig. Then you have to turn it down and "recut", see the name, and do it again. I didn't get off any statement. Until you show me an autoloading cnc machine I don't buy it. Its not feasible and a waste of time from all the set ups I have seen.
merylane said:you went from material to difficulty to cant be done to labor intensive? but did you compare 10 cues from each type and wonder why one is executed better than the other?.
First things first, all those are in reference to different items you bring up. None of them were related to any one thing. Material was in response to one point, difficulty to another and so on. Yes I have seen many of each. Some recuts were better than others and some veneers were better than others. Point?
merylane said:you said it was the veneer material (holly sycamore) but arent there other choices? isnt it true meucci has been using hard maple since before he was making cues? does he have a problem with hard maple? and if that was truly the reason why not just make his own veneers out of the woods he wanted to use? instead of changing the method? hhhhmmmm maybee there is another reason....could it be possible?
Bob uses the same veneers every one else uses. They are sycamore and holly.
ML, to make things easier, please be specific to the point you are trying to debate. Let us know if its a CNC point, a Recut point, or a veneer point, machining method whatever.
