New cue builder

I'm having a buddy of mine build me a cue and so far it looks great! I can't wait to get it in my hands!!! Thought I'd share with everyone else... (leave it to the excitement, right?!)


Here is the segmented handle with a quick finish on it to see how the Amboyna burl was going to look when it's all said and done...


Here's the cue assembled for an idea of how the whole cue will look...

Nice looking cue

Looks nice. I like the burl, but I don't like (what appear to be) metal rings.

Looking forward to pics of the finished cue!

Cue looks very nice, and your friend appears to have set high standards for himself. In my experiences with metal rings, there is an enhanced chance of buzzing or slight rattling with every metal ring added, especially if used in conjunction with fiber washer type rings. I'm not by any means saying your cue will buzz, so don't get scared. But keep an eye on this for your friend & keep him updated on how things work out as time passes on & the cue racks up some hours of play. Being totally honest & forward with him will help him a whole lot as he learns. Every cue builder needs one good, honest buddy in the beginning to be his lab rat. It pays dividends to the growth of the builder. Great looking cue. Good luck with it & good luck to your builder friend.
