This is my first post and thread. I am new to this forum but not to the game. I own a mali and shmelke that I bought about 15 years ago. Anyways I am looking to upgrade. I am contemplating on three cues in general, but want to get an ob2 shaft for it so I am trying to keep the price down on the cue. Choices #1 Adams $80 one step up from their sneeky pete. Side question about Adams, They make expensive cues as well. Is the price based just on the design and wood or do they use totally different techniques when making the low end cues (Quality wise). #2 Scorpion maroon wood stain with a leather wrap $150, have not shot with that particular one, but my mom bought a scorpion and the quality seems very good for the price. #3 plain viking g02 with the stain and wrap I want, which I can also get smaller diameter on the shaft, and they offer the weight bolts to change the weight(lifetime warranty). I am leaning towards the viking does anyone have a suggestion from that list. Thank you for your help.

Hi and welcome.save your money for awhile longer and get a cue from Bryan Mordt BCM cues. You wont be dissapointed.

Welcome to AZ

Just a though to ponder! You said you are planning to get an OB-2 shaft, just go to the OB web site and check the prices of the cues. The low end OB cue list at about $550, just the shaft list about $225. In other words it's hard to find a good cue butt for about $300. Go to the web site and call Royce, he is a great guy and will do everything he can to help the sport and new players trying to get better equipment.

Good luck on you decision.

for Value and Quality go with an unfancy JOSS for $200....if you dont like steel jointed cues Go with a Jacoby or even a McDermott Wood to wood.....i Mention these brands Because of there Price-quality Ratio...ive never been a viking fan....i think the 3 i mentioned above are far better cues than Viking IMO....JOSS being probably the best cue you can buy for under $300 by far....they play just as good as any cue out there at any price imo(if you like a steel jointed cue....they just dont look as nice as some more expensive cues).

It sounds like you're on a budget and have a fixed price range that you want to adhere to and people telling you to save your money until you can buy a $500 cue probably isn't what you want to hear.
So of the 3 cues you mentioned, I'd suggest the Viking. Reason being, it's the only one of the 3 made in America. Your customer service is generally better and a little easier to attain. Viking's not a bad cue.
I also think that the Viking will hold it's value better and will bring you better return when you do decide to upgrade your equipment.

also Schmelke Cues makes good cues for a cheap price....try one out if you can find some locally.

i played with one and they hit simular to a Mcdermott...
