new cuemakers association, by Bludworth

WHY NOT ANOTHER association?????

We do not have to be locked into any group, if we choose other wise. We don't have to belong to any group, however, these fine cuemakers have choosen to be in this new club....
No one has been forced into anything.

We all don't drive chevy's, do we???

Why not drive what we want, and you do the same. You also have the right to buy the cues you want, reguardless if it's from one of our members, one of the ACA's or an independant cuemaker. Some of our members do belong to the ACA. Nothing wrong with that.

One benfit, for those who belong to both club's, is the cuemaker will have more exposure belonging to both. The ACA, attends several shows per year, and we will also be attending several on our own.

We are offering a small group, who's members "all" do good work.

We are very positive about our club. Our goals are very simple,

Promote the sport, sell all nice cues, and sell cues as collectable art, and educate the public on cues and there values.

Most of us have been doing this for a long time.

With this new club, and as a group,we can sell to and educate the public, side by side, knowing that the guy next to you is not in it just for the money, and his work comes from his heart and his work stands on it's own.

The other club has turned away a few cuemakers who's work was not up to "par". That's the way it should be, and good for them.

We do not have to go through that process, within our club. Our members are well established craftsman.

I, have choosen just a few who, are top notch in the billiard world.

We are going to do our thing. Were, here to promote the sport ,
and cues to the best of our abllity.

I want to thank all who have spent his or her time, asking several very good questions. We will be here for a long time.

At this time, I have two differant promotors, who are very much interested in us attending there tournaments. I'll keep you good folks posted.

god bless

Blud-
Will the CueMasters Club keep the same members untill a member leaves or will there be a rotation of some sort? The club is limitied to 12 Master cuemakers and a cuemaker can only be a member if atleast 2 of the current members suggest that cue maker and ALL members (100%) vote "yes" to that cue maker becoming a member. Will the members only be a member for a certain amount of time, say 2 years or is he/she a member for life or until the club votes him/her out for whatever reason. Can a cue maker in this club be voted out? What is your projected date of going public with this club? (beyond verbals and AZBilliards)

Thanks,
Zim

Good questions Zimmer,

We have gone public. It's been announced all over the world. I have had very good e-mails about it. Seems that all are as interested as you.

It will be life time or retirement. If one retires, he or she, will continue to have rights to display and attend all of our events.

We will also have a "Hall of Fame Award" catogory, as well as many other categories, in the near future.

Cue Masters calander maybe? One month per maker! Maybe a Master Cue Craftsman of the Year! (MCCOTY) You could host an Expo in November-December and have each cue maker submit one cue to be judged by the PLAYERS, FANS, COLLECTORS, MERCHANTS, but not the club members. This would truely be the Industries choice (from the Cuemasters club) for MCCOTY! Just some thoughts.

Congratulations Blud. You have already set several milestones in the cuemaking industry with your cues and cuemaking machinery. Many fine cuemakers can call you a mentor. It seems to me that what you are doing is more akin to the invitation only arts festivals where the best of the best are chosen to display.

I see the ACA as a trade organization to promote the craft of cuemaking as well as the art. I can see your group as a club of elite artists and craftsmen that creates the kind of things that are above average.

And any club that requires only outstanding accomplishment to get in certainly does show strength and depth.

Good luck.

John

I find the cuemaker clubs to be great. Why not have more than one? Each time I consider a custom cue, I want to go with someone that has a reputation and the ACA has helped me with that in the past.
Enough berating Blud by some of the posters. He is simply trying to further the sport that we all love! Thank you Leonard for all of the work and resource that you put into it. I hope to one day own one of your cues but am currently spent with my latest Cognoscenti purchase.
You do wonderful work and I am sure your colleagues will do the same.

Peace,

Elite group of cuemakers

Hello,

I am glad to read that Mr. Bludworth decided to establish a new cuemakers association/club.

All of us (not necessary cue makers or pool players) enjoy to some extend being in an "elite club". Club of Ferrari owners, club of hunters in South Africa etc. It gives prestige and pleasure being a member, indeed.

If Mr. Bludworth has an idea to establish cuemakers club, why not to give him a right to decide who can join and who is not gladly welcome? If it is "his" club let say, it means that he may choose with whom he wants to work and share opinions, experience and so on or with whom he does not want to have anything common...

It is not forbidden to judge people...It is not forbidden to have personal opinion about other cuemakers...Unless someone does it unfair way.

Personal preferences always matter !

Hope to hear more information about THE CLUB soon !

Thanks again for all the support. Many thanks to one and all.

I have began to think about all kinds of things for our members, and what we can do for "you", our customers, collectors, cue buyers, and fans. Keep your ideas coming. I will log them in my e-mail, so I won't forget anyone of you, and or your thoughts. I promise....

This club and it's inter-works, will be quite differant from anything you seen or heard of before now.

We as a group, really do care of what you, the buying public thinks and wants. Yes, we care about you folks.....

If you don't see a cue within our group that suits you, we will do our best to help you find a cuemaker that will build you that special cue.....one of our members, there's or an independant. Matters not.

You are the folks who will spend your hard earned money with us, so we need to help you folks with questions and answers to your whatevers. Please do not be affraid to give us your two cents worth. Ask all the questions you like....

One thing came to mind while I was driving home from San Antonio, today, was each cuemaker will write about cues and or cuemaking once a year. [One cuemaker per month]. The cuemaker of the month will write an article about his cues or whatever he chooses. It will be all pool-related. We will also have a question and answer forum. If it's ok with Mike, we will do it on AZ, and also on our web page, when I get it up and running.

I will post some more in a while. Got to paint some cues, and sand shafts. [getting a little behind in my work plans]. Going to West Palm Beach the 4th of Nov. and then to Key West the 9th and return home on the 14th or 15th, and then head off to Tokyo, Japan, on Dec. 3rd- and return the 15th. Real busy, but not to busy for you folks and our club's members.
see ya

Way to go Blud. Mike Webb works night and day putting out beautiful cues while also handling hundreds of players repairs and requests. This membership is truely a well deserved reward for years of hard work. I've known this guy since he started with just the tip business. (actually before that) And his progress is nothing short of amazing.

Joe T,
Proud and Fortunate to have Mike Webb right here in RI
Congratulations Buddy

Just, some of my personal opinions after reading on this new club.

Well, Blud's starting a new club with a chosen bunch of top-class cuemakers-cum-friends. The reason of unable to get the satisfaction under the roof of the ACA management?

With this move, what will these 12 'golden' cuemakers do? more promotions on tour, higher prices for 'elite' cue, more customers?

And what will happened to the rest of the ACA after taking a president, a founder, and 10 voting members?

Finally, how will the general poolplayers/cue collectors aid from this move?

There's a lot of great cuemakers in the history but they all went the very same way -> they passed on in time sadly. If you have the interest of starting a new club, why not look from the top of the peak into the deep valleys?

There will be thousands of junior/amateur cuemakers wanting the very same exposures and experiences. There are some who went with the correct attitude and their works get recognised. On the other hand, most of them just fade with time.

But if they can get a club like yours, their works will get around the whole country and players start appreciate their cues as well. Wouldn't this be much better? Who knows, they might be the future cuemasters in the cuemaking industry.

Goals:-
(1) "Promote" our sport and advance cuemaking to a "higher level"
(2) And encourage cue collecting, as an art form.

Neither am i a cuemaker nor amercian, just a puny player voicing out some of my thoughts, none right or wrong.

PS: dang, this account activation sure takes ages.

Edyie, I have a customer in South Flordia, wanting a very special designed cue. A very special design indeed, which needs to be talked about at lenght, before I proceed. A real "HIGH" end cue. When it's finished, all will see. [on tv].

KONFUSED,
As stated on an earlier post, smaller is better in our way of thinking. We have a cap at 12. This assures us we have all first class craftsman, within our group.

The ACA, has certain requirements before one can become a member. From what I understand, they do not have a cap or a limit on the number of cuemakers that could belong.

The ACA, has much talent among their group. Please do not cut them short. They also have many fine craftsman.

HEY, HEY, just talked with ANDY GILBERT, he's IN".
Congrads to you ANDY, you do fine work and are of good stock.

11, down and 1 to go.

Just a little note - Dave Kikel, Kikel Custom cues is one of the members, not "Kikle".

I am waiting for forum members` predictions about no. 12 in THE CLUB.

We could give to Mr. Bludworth our own ideas - why not ?

BTW greetings to all from Warsaw, Poland - congratulations to Rodney Morris, World Pool League 2003 Champion - I talked to him on Sunday, kept my fingers crossed, watched semi finals and final. He deserved for the title without doubt !
