New Cuttlefish tip system

I installed my set yesterday and got a chance, to not only hit some balls, but to let others hit balls as well. I did not tell them that it was a screw-on tip, but just that I was "experimenting with an internal ferrule." The response was good. Each person that hit with it used the word "solid" and then when I unscrewed the tip, their jaw dropped....literally. No one could believe what they saw OR felt. This is coming from "Master" and "A" players, not your everyday bangers. I will test more tonight and report on Monday.

My personal experience was the same. I used the same tip, Sniper, as I normally use and used it on my player, which is a cue I am tuned in to. I was also surprised at the feel and response. No weird sound, feel, or deflection. I installed it without a ferrule, which is what Neil recommended. That was the only drawback I heard from the players that tested it. It looked funny without a ferrule. I also mentioned in previous posts that it was a snug fit. It was such a good fit that I kind of bent my little wrench unscrewing it to show one of the testers.

All that being said, I am not joining any hallelujah chorus. I was just asking for a fair test before making ignorant claims. All of my years of playing AND repairing AND building has shown me that I need to be open to new ideas and not so narrow minded that I discredit anything before I actually see it, try it, sleep on it, and then repeat until I can make an informed decision. Even if I do not like the idea, I can give a respectful opinion....and it is still just that...my opinion. Keep innovating!

well respected and humble too,wow.

Thanks mas-o, Nice of you to ADD to the discussion in your own
unique way.

BTW, do you have any idea of when you might quit stalking me?

My set paid for itself and then some. I let people test it when they would ask "what's the difference" in reference to layered vs non-layered. Each person that tested it, picked the layered tip instead of the non-layered they originally wanted. Most people hit balls and had no idea it was a screw-on tip. Most hit several balls before even noticing it had no ferrule....then when I unscrewed the tip to change, eyebrows raised and jaw dropped. I have yet to encounter anyone who has a negative comment about the hit. Now, to be fair, it was about a dozen people. Not a huge cross section of players. Neil is sending me another set and some extra tip pieces so I can rig more tips. I'll go to the Midwest tournament in a couple of weeks and continue testing. As a sales tool, I am sold...except I stock around 80 tips so that is a lot of pieces to carry around.
