What are these tournaments a qualifier for? WHERE in New England are they being held?

Hey Jennie,
This looks like RI Billiards in North Providence RI. I think the 3 Tuesday night events leading up to the main event are just called qualifiers (a chance for players to earn a free or reduced entry to the big $5,000 event) You don't have to qualify to play but last year for every Tuesday night tournament you played in you recieved a $25 discount off your $175 entry fee. Not sure if that's the case this year but wouldn't be surprised. I'll see you there.

Somebody please tell me I am wrong but aren't these dates at the same time as the US OPEN ?

OUCH! It sure is. The U.S. Open dates are September 19-25, 2005.

HOWEVER, if a player gets knocked out of the Open early, he could drive up the East Coast and pay $175 to play in the $6,500-added 8th Annual New England 9-Ball Tournament in Providence, Rhode Island which will be held on the last 2 days of the Open, September 24-25! :p

OUCH !!! is correct. It's true that many players will be knocked out of the evnet by then but many will stick around to watch or stay for the action. Also, because the better players will still be in the US Open the spectators will be there. This double effect will hurt RI's ability to at least break even on the event.

Somebody please tell Anthony at RI Billiard Club.
