New England Pool and Billiard Hall of Fame- Class of 2013

Tom- you have to put in Steve and Regina Goulding. They are THE ROCKS of New England pool. They are the only ones that have carried on. Their room is tremendous and the host one of the best tournaments on the east coast the Ocean State. Regina's food alone is worth induction (and I know food). How much in "added money" have they contributed over the years. Can't think of people more deserving.

I would like to second or third Steves idea of getting Ed miller and Chuck Wiggin Sr in the running for this honor as you will be hard pressed to find someone more deserving having played in the area with both for nearly 30 years not only are they deserving for their pool game feats but their respect for others by way of passing along their knowledge to others.

Tom,

Joe Deamato. Top Boston area 3-c player for years. Took over wcb from Bob P and kept that scene alive. Had 5 kids and still made time to make 3-c a part of his life.

Marc Dionne as a player (8-ball partners title with Rich M.)/promoter.

Obv Mike D. and Shorty are locks in the future, but it's interesting Nelson is in now and Joey isn't. It seems both are young and active enough to have their best tournament results ahead of them. . .

Definitely some inconsistencies with the "criteria" for getting in. I read comments like "so and so is too young" read it in this thread about Dupuis as well as being told that a year or 2 ago when I asked why Joe Tucker hadn't been enshrined yet. Funny thing is the other day I'm in Snookers looking at the Hall of Fame plaques and I notice Jeremy Sossei is already in and he's what? 32? Jarrod Clowery too and he might be younger than Sossei so who knows what they're thinking? Hall of Fame inductions are supposed to be end of career awards for a lifetime of work in the game. That's not the case here obviously but then pool never follows any of sports traditional rules does it?
I also suggest Pat Murray, former tournament director(Mike Zuglan's Joss tour), promoter and room owner.

Sossei's inclusion (and Nelson's) does appear to screw everything up. He got 2nd in the ocean state in a really tough field. I just looked at his az and he had 14 top 3 finishes in 2012 lol. Jarrod is older (I think he's around 35?), but his dedication to pool is behind him, so he should be included by the hall's criteria.

Not to start a war here, and I have already given my opinion to Tom, but I think there are far too many players in the Hall. Some of the people being inducted are "pool players". They played pool for a number of years "pretty good". So that gets you in the hall because you played pool for 15 years? There are a few that never won a tournament of any consequence. So, I suggest a criteria like baseballs hall.

You have to be out of the game for 5 years. Now since pool players can play into their 70's and 80's, I suggest an additional way to get in. If you are still active and the number of years you have been playing and your age total 70. So if a guy is 45 years old and has been playing tournaments since he was 20 (25 years playing + 45 years old= 70) he would be eligible.

So, how are we going to prove that a guy started playing at 20 and not 24? Well, you are not. That is what the election committee would be for. Pool is a very, very niche sport. Everyone knows everyone else. Hell, I know of guys that play high in Oklahoma and I have never stepped foot in the state. It would be up to the committee to satisfy themselves that a player has been playing for a period of time. Do a little investigation as it were.

I am very much appreciative of the work the Tom and Ray (RIP) have done to resurrect the Hall and make it active again. I would like it to stay a Hall of Fame and not be a Hall of Pretty Good.

Mike and others, such as Tom Delfanzo, Joe Dupis, and both Minechello brothers are still a little to young and very productive players. We can't be changing there list of accomplishments every other week. They just have to wait there turn.

Im confused by the whole age thing you have a few young guns in there notably jeremy sossei who i believe is 32-33 but someone like tommy D an Joey dupuis arent in an joey is older an shorty is a year younger then jeremy. Plus in my opinion adding 10-12 players a year kinda taints what a hall of fame is. Tom maybe you can fill in what some of the requiremnets are seeing the age thing you said makes no sense
