If you were to purchase new equipment, what would be your criteria for purchasing? What is the list you have to decide whether to buy or pass? Please do not name any sellers, or slam any, just looking to see what the general population here uses for guidelines when buying cuebuilding machines.

I myself look at:
1) how a person conducts themselves when selling their products as one of the biggest things I look at first.
2) Secondly, how they handle problems when they arise.
3) How good their product is rated by others that own and have operated for a period of time is another biggie with me.
4) Price is a big consideration, but not the Biggest item, it must be balanced with quality and customer support. I have bought used and been very happy, then bought a new CNC mill on Ebay that didn't live up to expectations and am currently rebuilding myself to hopefully be productive some day.
Thanks for any input.

You left out quality, professionalism, & availability of parts & support. That's what I look for. I want a machine that won't leave me hanging. I want to know I can get parts asap. And if i'm not sure about something I wanna know that I can call up the creator & get clarification. That's what gets my vote.

I tried to have that covered with the Quality, and Seller Behavior. Thanks for responding. Thanks also to those that voted.

Me too!!!

I own power tools including a full size lathe and mill. These make it possible to make nearly any part that I would need. I make my decision on price for the quality received. I like easy, cordial transactions but truthfully, price is usually the determining factor. After all, I don't have any intentions of marrying them. My criteria for purchase is not on your list which would be - price for the equal quality.

Hey Lee, I watched a couple of vids on your site for the breeze. Are you going to add any for your new lathe?

Overall quality ie accuracy, rigidity, stable, repeatability
Is the seller J.O.
Does anyone I know have anything
Professional Rep.
Price

I would rather build the equipment to do what I want it to rather than make something I buy work. Of course this is not always possible. But in most cases you have to start with a good base.

MACHINE CAPABILITIES is not on the list.

a machine has to have the ability to replicate itself.when looking at it see how many pieces on the machine you can make with it.does it have the capability to make parts for another machine in your shop.your ability to repair your shop is the first priority.when you have the ability to repair your shop and support attachments your product comes easier.the goal of the machine is first then the supplier and the price.

All equal.

Sure quality is important but if you haven't bought something before, you don't know what you're getting exactly. So if the seller is putting down his/her competitor, if fell they are probably hiding something. so i don't trust them. Price is important to an extent, depends on you use of the equipment also.
