New guy seeks advice

Hey guy's, I was hoping to pick your brains about cues a little bit. First, after a long, long layoff from shooting, I recently started playing again and decided to treat myself to a decent cue. I did some lurking here and on a couple of other forums and decided to go with a Joss jos-16.

I've never owned my own cue before so, even though it's not custom, it's going to be a huge step up for me. Just wondering if any of you have first hand knowledge of this cue or other Joss cues in this price range and what you think of them.

The second thing I wanted to ask you guy's about is custom cues. I haven't even received my first cue and I'm already looking to pick up a second but, more for the purpose of collecting/investment. I'm starting to get familiar with some of the more popular custom builders but there are so many. Are there any "can't miss" custom cues that will retain or increase in value? Also, would 800-1200 dollars be about right to have something custom built or to buy something used that has potential?

Any help would be great, thanks.

I am not a cue maker, however, I've owned 2 joss cues. They were both very nice. I would recommend them.
Most of the can't miss cues that I can think of are already quite expensive. The price range you discuss is enough to get a very nice cue by several makers on here. Hopefully, you'll get responses from some of them. Good luck.

as far as cann't miss customs, right now i would say south west. these seem to be very hot right now and doing nothing but going up. also if you can manage to find one, tibbitts appreciate very good as well.

I want to buy those $800 to $1200 Tibbitts. And I might be interested in the $800 to $1200 SW also.
