I think pool would be a lot more popular if they came out with an anime about it. There's a pretty pre-packaged formula for sport or games related anime's. Examples would be: Initial D (drifting), Super Yo-Yo (yoyo-ing) and Beyblade (spinning tops). It sounds dorky, but I would totally watch an anime about pool, where they're discussing the master strategies of the major opponents and how to overcome those strategies. Also every cue of the major players has to have a spirit beast whose energies, the shooter can tap into.

Man that would be so awesome.

I get how this would sound stupid to anyone over the age of 25, but it would be a great way to have something that appeals to a younger generation, and anime lovers.

The only pool-related manga I know of is called "Break Shot", published in the late 80's/early 90's. A little over the top, but I enjoyed it. Not sure if it was ever translated into English though.

The younger generation is into electronic, and computers. Even the poor kids wh belong to the Boys and Girls Club line up at the computers for their turn. The Pool tables get little attention. Just the way it is.
