Here is a new unchalked Josswest I picked up from www.onthehill.net. Thanks, Troy.

This cue is 8 points of snakewood into a gaboon ebony forearm. Each point is surrounded with a flawless silver veneer. Ivory flat faced joint with radial pin. Fabulous piece of black lizard for the wrap. Railroad track styled silver rings with either snakewood or ebony dashes depending on the position. In the snakewood butt sleeve are 4 rectangles of ebony surrounded by a silver veneer. Inside each is a slotted tiffany diamond (also silver) Ivory butt cap.

I am thrilled to say the least!!! :)

Note: more pictures of this cue and my Ginacue below.

Well after that, a new family photo to include the Schick and Hercek would go a long way to making a few more of us moist...

Thanks for all the feedback.

I will try answer a few of the above posts with one post.

I will get the Ginacue and this cue together for later shots. And will probably be my new avatar. Thanks for the compliments Mark and Guy. :)

No, I won't be playing with this cue. It is going into the category of untouchable, along with my Ginacue.

And finally, I guess I can't take pictures of this cue and the Schick. As much as I liked the Schick, when I saw this cue, I thought this cue was amazing and so I made the swap.

Of top 5 cuemakers I have listed, there is no doubt Stroud and Gutierrez are the closest to my heart. When I first got involved in this hobby, Josswest cues were "on fire". Thanks in a big part to John Wright. (The hobby surely misses him) There are a lot of people that have no idea how big a pioneer Bill Stroud has been in this craft. He is a friend who I have great respect for.

I didn't keep the Schick very long and the time I spent with Mark "8-ballrat" Raymond @ VF must have rubbed off. This is probably some sort of record for me (quickest turnaround). :D :D :D

Thanks again for all the responses.

I feel honored to have had such an impact on ya, Jimmy!! :) :)

While I'm sorry to hear the the Schick didn't last very long.....I think you made a VERY smart decision to pick up that JW cue. I know how much you like Mr. Stroud and his work....and the one you picked up is a real breathtaking cue. The fact that it's an ebony and snakewood cue makes it all the better.

Having been known, myself, to "turn" a cue or two relatively quickly, I know what you went through to get it done.........FUN, WASN'T IT??!! :D :D

What Strouc has done!!!!!

One year for Christmas I got a Balabushka 1966 Burton Spain blank, and a Joss West . Now I loved the Bushka But sold it I still have the Joss West and man , Bill makes an unbelievable cue , I am so glad to see his new stuff...Congrats and don't part with it ..P.S... John Wright engineered the deal for both cues....Ray

Jimmy,

This one is a real "Looker", and you will love it side by side with the Ginacue. By the way, keep in mind, I have an ebony Schick with silver veneers (heh, heh, heh....).

Joss West

"Tap - Tap - Tap" to a very nice cue and to Mr. Wright.

I miss Mr. Wrights mailings with the photos and pricing on the state of some beautiful cues.

Love the silverwork!

Congrats on a beautiful cue! I'm a big fan of silver veneers. I'm sure the cue is incredible in person.

Yes, the entire cue world misses John. He had his share of ups and downs. But, he had such a passion for cues. He taught me so much about cues. We would have long phone conversations just talking about different cuemakers, the cue market and on and on.

He definitely passed way too soon. :( :(

Snakewood and Ebony cues

A couple of posts from my buddies ask for my two snakewood and ebony cues pictured together. (Ginacue and new Josswest)

Here they are:

Jim,

There's only one way to describe these cues. "Simple elegance". You may want to consider having the other cue makers you respect make cues using the same basic materials, ebony, snake wood, silver and ivory. It would make for a beautiful collection.

Regards,

Tony

Jim

The lighting came out perfect for these shots.
Awesome results and a pair of cues that compliment one another very well.

Thanks for posting these pictures and looking forward to seeing what you will be playing with.

I was there when Bill deliverd the cue at VF. I think it has found the perfect home.

Now if you could talk Jamie out of his Ebony, Snakewood and silver Schick you would have the perfect threesome.
