I'm posting some pictures of a Josswest cue I received 2/11/05. I've never owned a Josswest cue before, but i'm very impressed with this cue. The workmanship is top quality and the cue plays very well. The birdseye maple Bill used for the forearm looks very nice and the inlays are well done. Check out the pictures and see what you think.

That's a very pretty cue. I like it. It's hard to tell form the photos..is the red-colored inlay material Purple Heart or Pink Ivory?

Nice. I really like the birdseye. I have always wanted a JW and never had one. I like the stained birdseye he does. I like a more traditional cue and I hope if I get around to buying one Stroud will still make one. I don't like some of his newer designs, but I like yours pretty well.

Inlay material.....

......The red colored inlays are Pink Ivory wood! Thanks for the compliments on the cue.

Beautiful Cue

SCCues: Great looking cue, are you sure the wood in the diamonds is pink ivory... it looks alot like blood wood? Also, did the cue come with the wrap it has on it? I would be interested in knowing how much a JW cue with that level of detail costs. Thanks for all the information. I'm just getting into the more highend cues. Brad

My Playing cue is a JW as well. He is one of the best alive, and one of the best ever - guaranteed a legend in cue-making.

Quality pink ivory does not have a washed out look - it's got good color. Here's my playing cue. JW. It's ebony with pink ivory inlaid points 3 up on the forearm and 3 down on the butt, with 3 spliced ebony points and super thin holly veneers, 3 up on the forearm and 3 down on the butt. All the points are super sharp and perfectly even, not even a hair off, and all the forearm work lines up exactly with the butt work .

The joint is ivory with a radial pin screw. The rings are intracate, pink ivory, ebony, and ivory diamonds. The buttcap is also ivory and so are the ferrules of two of the shafts, and the third one is a Predator (which is my playing shaft) with matching rings.

I'm 95% sure the wood is pink ivory. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but i'm almost certain it's pink ivory wood. I know that bloodwood is similar in color and there's a chance that's what it is, but I don't think so.

No, the cue didn't come with the wrap it has on it in the pictures. When I bought the cue the wrap had a dingy look to it from chalk dust. I installed the white with black speck linen wrap on the cue myself. I've been doing cue repairs for years and I do my own linen wraps. The wrap groove on that JW was cut perfectly and it was easy to re-wrap it correctly. I've seen some cues that were cut a little deep and you had to build up the handle to get the wrap to be dead even with the finish.
