New Kamui Original Tips...

Just wondering if anybody has tried the new "Original" Kamui Brown tips yet?

I know they are now supposed to be moisture resistant, and come in the same hardness levels as the black, but has anyone tried one out yet, or gotten feedback from a customer that can tell a difference between the new and the old ones?

I use the Kamui Black, so I have almost ZERO experience with the Browns.

I've installed a couple of the med. black but nobody has said anything about them as of yet.

I just had a brown supersoft put on my new custom cue, and I haven't really noticed much of a difference, but it has only been two days since I received the cue and I will report back. I haven't played but maybe 30 minutes with it so far.

I tried the medium black and also brown. First day, it was great, I also break with my cue. 2nd. day, Hard as a rock on both tips.

I tried all the different hardness in both black and brown..settled for soft black( currently playing pool with it and pocketing a few more balls.) , super soft black would be the next choice. Found all of them lacking when it came to billiards, stayed with Moori soft.

I bought a few of the browns in different softness. I put a SS on a cue and couldn't keep it shaped. Lost its shape and mushroomed after every few games. I wore it down in less than a month. To be fair, I shouldn't criticize Kamui based on my experience with one hardness rating but I wasn't impressed enuff to try any more when there are so many other great tips out there. Someone mentioned that I should have applied CA to the sides to keep it from shrooming, but I figure if I have to do that, then what good is the tip when you don't have to do that with other brands.
Where I live, there aren't alot of Kamui fans so I'll keep what I have and not bother pushing them.
When it was shaped, there was nothing extra special about it any how.

Looks like there is a pretty significant difference between the Black and Brown.

I have a Black SS on my cue, and break with it in straight pool. The tip has not moved at all.

The only experience I've had with the Browns were with the MS. I was not impressed with it at all, but it does hold it's shape. I wonder if mushrooming is just a problem with the brown SS?

Thanks for the input!

I just put a brown medium on my LP Custom and a Black M on my fisher, love the black one, don't love the brown one, but it is better than what was on there before so it stays for now.

I've heard some really good things about the new Soft Brown tip, but have not tried them yet.

Has anybody tried one that can compare it to a Black Soft???

Thanks!

Looking for some more feedback on the Brown tips.

Specifically if anybody has tried the Brown Super Soft that has used the Black Super Soft before?

Thanks!

I play a soft black with 2nd choice a ss black, I tried the New originals in SS and they are diffinately feel harder than than the Black SS and probably harder than the soft black.

I have found that, for me, both these tips play well, but would lean towards the black ss. When I received my new cue I had a brown ss and a milk dud put on the two shafts. Cut milk dud off cause it was pressed too hard, and put on a black ss. The black ss hasn't mushroomed at all while the brown did a little. Also the brown had to be shaped more often. Just like advertised, the black ss does in fact make it easier to spin the cue ball, even more so than the brown. This is just my opinion of both tips. I prefer the black ss, and am trying the black soft on my spare shaft as soon as I receive them from koinnkid, so I can finally see the difference between the black ss and soft.

I have tried the black SS, S, M and the brown S on several shafts with egis and ivory ferrules.
IMHO
The SS is too soft for me and I get a spongy feeling. The black M is too hard. But as the baby bear said “The Black soft is just right”. The black soft gives me a great feel and imparts better spin. The brown has a great feel also with less spin but better accuracy on long straight shots.
I am using black S on both of my player shafts with ivory ferrules right now but that could all change next week. Not saying that I will change from Kamui but that I have been contemplating changing one of my player shafts to a brown S. I had a brown S and black S on my old player shafts and for who knows why:scratchhead: had two black S installed on my new player. This will give me the option/practice of opening up my game for those long shots on a 9 ft. With the black S I tend to keep the long shots to a minimum and work on my short game. Not that is all bad really like the thought process.
I think that Kamui has described the characteristic of their tips quite well on the web site. I would have no problem adjusting my game from brown to black or vice versa.

Thanks again for the input guys.

I've never had any mushrooming problems with the Blacks, either the Soft or SS. Are the NEW Originals (Browns) really mushrooming? I thought they were treated the same way as the black's.

Also, for those that have tried the new and old Brown Soft's, are the New Brown Soft tips harder than before???

Thanks again!
