Well i watched his match this morning against Vivian and he was a gentleman. Unfortunatly I was looking for a good battl between them but it was pretty uneventful till game 6 and he missed the 7 ball and Vivian jumped and said you are giving me a game yeaaaa i won't get skunked. Needless to say she broke the next rack ran about 4 balls then missed and it was game over.

But the heat gets turned up in the next few rounds so stay tuned for As Earl Turns.....lol

Earl did have a blow-up during the one pocket with John Schmidt. I won't go into too much detail, but word has it that John questioned whether Earl had 5 or 6 balls. Earl began cussing John and it just kept getting worse thru the rest of the match. There was a small confrontation in the hall after the match. I went out to the hall with A couple of John's friends and got a few details. Once again I had a couple of talks with Earl in the hall while waiting for the elevator and he was as pleasant as anyone you ever met. Lot's of happenings this week. Sam

He ended up costing both accu-stats and Shawn money. Accu-stats will not be able to sell the tape due to Earl conceding. They lose the sales and Shawn loses royalties from those sales. He might've been quiet and not caused a scene (in that match) but he still showed his a$$.

As satman stated, there was an incident between JS & Earl. There was also an incident between Hillbilly & Earl. He wasn't without controversy but when is he ever?

Earl Was And Is A Jerk

Earl Eas A Jerk At 19 And He Hasn't Lost His "touch". His Opponenets Have Showed Considerable Class By Not Popping Him.

I'm not sure of what they get. I only recently learned that they get royalites from them. I think it's great that they do!

yep, and they should, you don't see (insert movie actor/singer/poet/writer of your choice here) making a movie and not getting royalites.

I think they get a buck or two from every tape sold. Someone else posted that Mike Sigel gives Mike Zuglan a hard time because Zuglan gets royalties from the 14.1 match where he loses the lag, breaks, and then Sigel runs 150 and out. One of the most popular tapes from Accu-Stats and Zuglan gets paid $$ for one unsuccessful break shot.

Zuglan ran 148 balls in the next match so I don't think he was too bent out of shape by Sigels' display. Mosconi and Caras were in the audience and Mosconi supposedly said Zuglans 148 in the next match was one of the best examples of a player showing heart he'd seen.

yeah after i heard this i agree hes a jerk for real!
a guy in my area named tommy stephenson about in 2002 i believe got 3 or fourth place in the derby nine ball. well he beat earl in the elite eight i believe
and beat him bad like 7-1 or something then earl said out loud ive been beat by a crack head! a crack head! wow whats that! you go call someone a crack head! earl strickland is a real A-hole!end of story

I agree.

I wish more people will buy the tapes rather than making illegal copies and then sell them or exchange them.

After all, when you are done watching the tape, you can always sell it on ebay or whereever, and get most of your money back.

not bad when you think about it. I mean, how much does an author net on each copy from writing a book? The player does nothing to produce or market the tape after playing. It is appropriate that accu-stats pays the players, but its not like the players can get $5 per and have accu-stats stay in business. Play good and you appear in more tapes and more people buy them. So Efren makes more off them than others. Seems fair.

Accu-Stat Royalty

My recollection is that each player gets $1 per tape, except in the case of multiple matches on one tape, as is sometimes the case at Derby City with Banks or 9-Ball. If there are two matches on a tape, each player would get .50 cents.
Pat has never been secretive about this and does do an accounting every year and hand out and mail checks to players. Efren always gets the biggest check. I wonder why. Pat has customers that buy all his tapes.
Sad to say that the commentators only get paid once. I have to talk to Pat about royalties. lol
