New League Season, SF Bay Area

[Bob Jewett]

The 14.1 leagues are starting a new season in the San Francisco Bay Area. These are all "drop in" leagues, so you can join at any time and do not have to play every week. Also, if you feel like playing a second match, there will usually be someone to play. I think the weekly fee is $10 for each of them, part of which goes towards table time and the rest towards the payouts in the playoffs at the end of the season. There is no fee to join. Here's a list of rooms -- I hope I don't forget anyone:

Shoreline Billiards (Mountain View) -- Tuesday at 6
California Billiard Club (Mountain View) -- Wednesday at 6
Lucky Shot (Sunnyvale) -- Saturday?
Crown Billiards (San Ramon) -- Saturday at noon

I believe the league at Lucky Shots is on Mondays at 6 pm.

This is really a good thing to have so many 14.1 leagues close by. The handicap system is really a good one.

All the players are really friendly and helpful. They all like to play a serious game of straight pool and still have a good time. I'm glad the season is starting.......I took a break from straight pool and it really shows in how well I don't play now.

For those that don't know...California Billiards is under new ownership.
