Hey all, This is my first post. There is a ton of good info here, thanks.

so I have a table that was my fathers. He bought it from an old lady in his neighborhood in the early 70’s, who told him she had brought it from some club or bar.

after a move, I had it set up and leveled and the guy told me that it was an older table but couldn’t identify it. There is a plate on it with the name “v.loria” on it and he thought that this was a company that had worked on the table at some point. I’ve looked through catalogues of tables and cannot find quite an exact match for this.

any idea on how to find what this table is? Thanks.

Oh. I also had to strip 3-4 coats of paint off of this thing before I put it together. It was at least brown and green before this.

Probably came from here: http://loriaawards.com/AboutUs.aspx Could have been built totally in-house or may have been a table that B'wick made most of and they finished. Looks they're still in business.
I emailed them and they said to send the same pictures for them to look at. Which I did and am just waiting to hear back.
That’s kind of what the guy who set the table up said... that it was an older Brunswick table that they worked on, or that they somehow finished.

either way, I love having this table and am playing all the time. My son is about to turn 8 in a few days and he is starting to show some interest in playing all the time, which makes it even better.

There were a lot of table brands back then that were actually made by Brunswick but labeled by local stores like Loria. Some were made by smaller companies but it was easier to get a table from B'wick and just put your store's name on it. Cool table you have no doubt. Looks to be in pretty good shape.

It took quite a while to strip all the paint off of it, but when i got it off I was psyched to see the wood, and the details on the legs. It was unexpected. So I put just a clear coat on it. There are also a lot of what looks like cigarette burns all over the top of the rails. Gives the table a lot of personality I think.

thanks for the info

Back in the old days we smoked while we played.
And it was common to put your cigarette on the rail with the lit end just off the rail so it wouldn't burn the wood.
But a lot of the time the cigarette would burn down and mar the rail.
Probably why early Gold Crowns had ash trays in the corners.

That’s awesome. I love the idea that people were playing on that table somewhere else a while ago. Like I said, I love the personality of it
