From the standpoint that they are both a piece of wood. Other than that, the custom Samsaras (like mine) use a 400 year wood-joining technique, called intarsia, to create masterful designs...which are then cored and slipped on to a solid maple rod. Your Samsara has no such construction.
What I will agree with, is that your cue and my cue will play the same...or at least nearly so. :D

My $500 Samsara, I was told by the company, is made the same way as their $5000 cues aside from the inlays.

Why would you recall saying something that you didn't?
I didn't see anyone say that you did...

Nope. Nobody said it, but it kinda sounded implied when you responded with, "They should only use the best shaft wood available for every cue that they make. That is just good business"

I started to take out the part about the poor quality, but decided to keep it there. I didn't figure what you said was intended in any bad way, but just wanted to be a little clearer on what I meant with my message.

Definitely not worth fussing over. I think we both pretty much agree on the issue. :)

Have a great '08!

Ah... but the barcues are cored. But not decorated. My point is that they do play the same, taking into account variances in all natural hand-made items. Made on the same assembly line so to speak, you get a sunroof and leather, we both have the same engine :) Before I bought it, I emailed them to make sure that it was not some Korean manufacurer that was contracted to make a Samsara branded product with nothing in common with the fancy cues except the name. And I was told, aside from the decoration, a serial number and only one shaft standard, they are the same.
