New Meucci Originals

Anyone know anything about the new Meucci Originals being sold on eBay by JDB Billiards. I think the owner is a member of AZB. They come with a Black Dot shaft and are re-designs of Meucci Original cues, even the same logo.

They look pretty nice but I'm concerned about QC issues. I've really considered purchasing one but $575 is a bit of a risk until I have more info.

Here's an example...

If you spend $600.00 on a new Meucci, you're nuts. There a bunch of custom makers here on Az that will make you a cue that's lightyears better. Call Bryan Mordt(BCM Cues) and for that kind of money you can get an awesomecue. I've got 3 of his cues and couldn't be happier.

I'll second this. $600 on a Meucci is foolish. Quality is so hit and miss.

There is already a discussion thread on these cues. I believe it is in the general forum. You will find that most seem to be a bit put off by Meucci making these cues.

As far as sinking a bunch of money into one, I would seriously question such a thing. Of course, if one is a dedicated Meucci fan I guess it would be understandable. But even then, wouldn't you want an actual real Meucci Original?

I have one single Meucci Original in my collection. I take it out to play occasionally as a matter of nostalgia. I value the cue. But it isn't even close to being one of my leading cues. I repeat, not even close. And I don't have a bunch of high end stuff. Among my cues that are leaps and bounds beyond the Meucci would be any JOSS of any generation, any McDermott of US manufacture, especially A, B, C, and D series, Espiritu, Auerbach, Huebler, Scruggs, and numerous vintage Adam cues among others. I think I have a few Chinese cues that would outplay a Meucci as well as have equal or better quality.

Meucci having been such a "leader" at one time (namely the eighties) was merely a fluke generated by marketing as far as I can tell. They were handed their ass by makers like JOSS in short order after the hype ran out.

If I were a one or two cue guy a Meucci would never enter my mind at all.

I have a couple of Meucci Originals and I like the hit. My regular player is a Mezz and my backup is a Schon.

I guess I was hoping that Meucci was making a "true" original and not just a cosmetic knockoff. I am no fan of the newer Meucci's.

Appreciate the feedback. Oh, well... :frown:

I don't think it will be like the Original Originals. :shakehead:

It will probably have the everlock weight bolt system with the plastic threaded sleave. This will probably be the only way to tell the difference.

Of course you can still have the shaft made with no silly dots on it.

Might come with the famous Meucci taper roll in the shaft.:yeah:

I'm not knocking Meucci, just being honest. I will always play with a Meucci.
