New Meucci!

My dad just bought a Meucci sneaky pete from a pawn shop for 60$ and he said it has a black ring about 2 inches down from the threads...Im just curious if anyone has one of these cues or has shot with one....

If you mean a little black circle with white in the middle that makes it a "Bullseye" laminated shaft. You can ready about it here. I've never shot with one myself but I have heard other people complain that these highly-laimanted shafts can warp easily so be sure to check it for straigtness.

You mean there's a black ring in the shaft ? If that's the case, it could be Predator's second grade shafts. They mark them with a black ring about 2" from the joint. And yes, there are also Predator shafts without the 314 or Z logo... Check out:

It's good to check any shaft for straighness...

I have had several cues, and currently own three. One is a Meucci. I have two black dot shafts for it. Does a laminated cue warp more easily than a regular cue? Hasn't been the case with my shafts... And they have all gone through some pretty humid conditions, from time to time.

I think he means the black ring is on the butt. This was common for a while on Meucci SPs. It's nothing special. It's just a decorative ring.

Black Ring

The butt may have been broken in the past. Factory repairs from McDermott and Meucci often have a black ring where they do a butt splice. Rarely found on a low-end cue, but possible.
 
Hal is right, a decorative rings on the butt of the cue near the joint. I haven't seen one of those for maybe 8-10 years.
 
Yes the black ring is on the butt and in the middle of it is Meucci written in white letters......Other than that i know about the black and red dot shafts this cue hass neither one of those shafts on it.....Does anyone know if the $60 was a good deal im sure it was after all its a Meucci nothing with that name on it is cheap......
