Nice cue from one of the most underrated cueamakers around.
The leather wrap is almost free at the price you are paying.
Madagascar rosewood is one of the best hard hitting woods around.

Thanks Joey...Ned has a following but I agree he is underrated. I especially like Ned's shaft taper and relatively slender butt diameter. You get good cue dollar value from him. I like the look and tone potential of Madagascar rosewood and other rosewoods too. When are we going to see some of your cues?

I couldn't agree more....I absolutely adore my Madagascar rosewood cue!! One of the most beautiful of the rosewoods....that and Brazilian. It makes an excellent substitute for the nearly unobtainable Brazilian, and plays incredibly well.

That's good to hear Lisa...Madagascar has subtle beauty but I especially like it when there is some wild black figuring in the piece.

I've been stocking up on exceptional cue woods when I can find them. Went to Tropical Hardwoods of Latin America(Carlsbad, CA) on Friday and spent almost 4x what I had planned to. Have you seen Amazon rosewood (nice shade of brown)? How about my current favorite, Camatillo rosewood (I love the purple and black look of it)? THLA offered me a pre-ban Brazillian rosewood board but my pockets were not deep enough!

I wish I did some sort of woodwork, as I really am a freak for a nice piece of wood. When doing research on which wood to use for my cue, I could not believe the different varieties of rosewood there was!! I knew about cocobolo, but was surprised about tulipwood. I also found out that there what are referred to 'true' rosewoods....Brazialian, Indian, and Madagascar. Madagascar rosewood has such a wide range of colors....from lighter browns to the deep, dark burgundy variety known as Bois de Rose, of which my cue is made. It was interesting to note that in France, Bois de Rose is actually tulipwood...Lol.

I realize that I may have hijacked your thread, and for that I truly apologize. I think you have a beautiful cue, and at that price, someone should snap it up before they miss out!!!!

Lisa

Not worried about any hijacking Lisa...its always fun to shoot the breeze about cues, woods and such. I've also read that there are over 600 rosewood species. I enjoy learning and it is fun to find nicely figured or desirable species of woods that will eventually end up in a fine pool cue and make someone happy.

There are some woods and combinations of woods that just don't float my boat for a cue. Combining cue woods can be tricky. For example I am usually not a fan of maple pointed cues or much snakewood in a cue. I love amboyna, myrtle, and desert ironwood burl (especially for points) but hate the look of camphor burl.

bump....several Ned Morris cues to choose at my site. You won't be disappointed.

Martin

Martin, you sure that's Madagascar? From the pics, I'd swear it was Brazilian (much better IMO). That's a gorgeous piece of wood.

Sean

Sean, yes it is Madagascar rosewood. Has a nice black streak in the figure. I have been learning more about buying and identifying hardwoods, it's a real adventure. I just love the various rosewoods available for cues, many of which are terrific hitting woods. I do need to take new and better cue photos now that I have a better camera.

BTW, Ned Morris has several billets of beautiful aged Brazilian rosewood. I will have 1 or 2 Brazilian rosewood on Brazilian rosewood cues in the next group of pointed cues from him. I plan to keep one for myself.

hey this time dont take the best looking cue out of the lot. lol............................................im teasin. I really did like the Carmelli with the bacote wood . you should put the pic back up on your site so i can see it again.

Good gawd, nobody has jumped on this yet.
Martin, you need an extra shaft so someone can test shoot with this cue.
Any decent player who is not dead broke would buy this shooter on the spot.
Ned's cues hit very crisp and his shaft taper is very "pointable" and playable.

Bump on this excellent Ned Morris players cue with nice detailing.

Martin

bump...nice players cue with comfortable black leather wrap. Priced right!
