New Olhausen Tables

I am looking to purchase a billiards table for my home and have been comparing a lower-cost Olhausen table to a higher-quality Diamond Pro. I have read with interest the past discussion about the "Olhausen Rattle", but I haven't seen too much written about it lately. I asked my local Olhausen dealer about this, and he called Olhausen. This is what he says:

The angle of the cuts, on the rubber, was re-designed and the problem was resolved.

All OLHAUSEN tables are made to BCA (Billiard Congress of America) equipment specifications. As per the 2008 BCA Rule Book the...

Corner Pockets'
Openings from 4 7/8th" to 5 1/8th" - Angle of cut 141 to 143 degrees
Side Pockets'
Openings from 5 3/8th" to 5 5/8ths" - Angle of cut 101 to 105 degrees

OLHAUSEN can add one extra facing to the rubber, making the pocket opening smaller; but it has to be done when the table is ordered and there is a $40.00 upcharge.

Just curious if anyone has bought a new Olhausen table in the last year or two and if, in fact, the "rattle" issue has been resolved.

thanks.

I bought a new Olhausen in December 2011. It's an 8.5 foot Hampton model. I've enjoyed it quite a bit. I've rattled balls on it but I've rattled ball on every table I ever play on. I don't necessarily notice a difference between my table and other tables.

When Glen (RKC) sees this thread he WILL have the answer for you,

Real King Cobra is his handle here, PM him, he is the most knowledgeable guy I met in 28 years of pool when it comes to pocket mechanics and cause/effect things. He is a genius, look him up.

best

I 2nd RKC, the man is a master of table mechanics.

I have a Olhausen, a older one with the rattle. On mine it is very minor. If you are trying to decide between the two I would say go with the Diamond if you can afford it. The Olhausen is a good table for it's price range in my opinion.
buying my olhausen, but I wish I had a diamond.

Buy the diamond. Olhausen is crap and nobody on this forum should even be considering anything other than a diamond, gold crown, high end brunswick or gabriels!

Seriously I wouldn't buy an Olhausen. They play funny

Not everyone can afford the high end. Olhausen is defiantly not crap. Are they as good as the GC's or Diamonds, no, but they are still decent tables.

You seem to have a narrow view, but everyone is entitled....yada yada yada.

I don't think price is even a consideration here. I would take a used GC (can be picked up for less than $1k) any day of the week over that.

Corvettes and Mustangs are crap. No car guy should even consider buying anything but a Ferrari or a Porsche...

This is why I have a porsche :)

I got bored with mine...after 34 years. Also got bored with people with elitist attitude taking over the Porsche world. Bought a Mustang which gets me where I want to go rapidly, in comfort, and with none of the paranoia of driving a sought after collectable car. Tell me, what do you have? A leased Boxster?

This one now resides in the care of a dear friend in Istanbul. Part of the half price sale deal was that the car would never leave Turkish soil...

To get back on topic, I would enjoy hearing more from those who have the "new" Olhausens.
