New opinion on potential table purchase

Hello! I’m new here and new to billiards too but I enjoy it and am looking at a 1972 Brunswick Wellington CI-1 tournament table with ball return. I have attached pics. Can anyone help me with what it’s worth? I want to buy it but have no idea what to offer. Any help is much appreciated!
Update he wants $2,500 for it.

I got mine disassembled, delivered, and installed for $450. That table may be a bit more work to put together, but not that much. It took 2 guys about an hour and a half to install it.
In 1979? Lol.

We had to have a 1 peice slate moved out of a basement. That was $350 just to get it out and on to a trailer. JUST the slate. We disassembled and moved the rest of the table. Had to unload ourselves at new destination. This was about 6 years ago.

About 2 years ago. A 1 piece slate in a basement is a different story.

actually they are a decent table for home use. and in home use most want a piece that looks like furniture.

gold crowns are certainly the best of the brunswick lines in newer tables. but look like commercial products which they are. not for home furniture looks.
2500 is way too much but it is in nice shape so 1000 is more realistic. plan on 700 or more for setup and moving.
for home use and looks find an older olhausen table.

if you want pro tables get one. a gold crown or a diamond.

I think this part is key for the OP. A table like that will be fine for a beginner to learn on. The game will still be fun and all the shots will work. I learned on a Sears table -- masonite bed ? -- and it worked well enough. I could tell that the Gold Crowns down at the pool hall were much, much better tables, but they cost money to play on.

However, the current deal prior to negotiation is about $2500+$1500 = $4000 to have that table set up in his house. Amazon and Walmart sell new tables for about a third of that and they may be sufficient for the OP's needs.

yes except this table had a one inch slate and superspeed cushions. it sold for over a 1000 bucks back then.

they played well just didnt have the sturdy undercarriage the commercial tables had.

Exactly!! 1 inch doweled slate, Superspeeds, hardwood throughout, Formica covering rails and blinds. It’s nothing to look at, but a good table. I’m not sure why so many are comparing this to a Service Merchandise special. No it’s not a commercial, but it’s much better than the typical imported furniture grade table that you see so much of today.

Yeah, I looked at some of the other catalogs and it was only a couple hundred cheaper than a GC. It seems to only be a rung or two lower on the ladder than a CG. I still think it's overpriced. OTOH, will OP have $4000 worth of fun on it? Then it's not a bad deal, per se. It's just not the best deal.
