Nice Palmer there, Ken. I like the simpler old Palmers.....and I just loved the old 70's style lettering that they used. Looks like it was well cared for.....great score!!

Lisa

PS...kinda 'trippy' how the forearm looks curly up one side of the point and birdseye up the other side.

Simpler is Better!

Hi Lisa,

Thanks....I like the traditional 4 point w/veneer cues too! The forearm on this cue is really pretty cool

The fellow I bought this cue from had owned the cue for the past 24 or so years; he bought it from the original owner who only had the cue for a couple months.

A couple minor nics to the finish but extremely nice shape for an old PB-6and it shoots great too! :)

Plus it's a high quality full splice. That's what's making these older PB line cues worth picking up. Looks like a nice example.

Refinish or leave original

Hey Chris,

What do you think about refinishing these cues? Can it be done without losing the Palmer logo on the buttcap?

Also, was it normal for these cues to come with an ivory ferrule?

FYI, I got this cue with an old Palmer hard case that has locks and a key....if anybody is in the market for one of these cases send me a pm ;)

It's fine to refinish it. These PB line cues are semi-collectible at this point but are mostly sought for their playing characteristics.

Scot Sherbine can do it working around the wrap and possibly the logo, or Michael Webb actually has better-than-new replacement logo's (he will replace the wrap).

A lot of the logo's flake off anyway because the clear coat shot over it doesn't adhere properly to the Delrin buttcap material.

Ivory ferrule would not have come on this particular cue -if iot is ivory, it's probably been replaced.

Replacement Logos?

Are these logos acceptable as the real deal?

This cue has an ivory ferrule -- what should it of had? The cue shoots really good but, the ferrule is like 13.5mm....slightly larger than what I'm used to -- I like a 12.8 to 13mm better :p

Hey Ken...

check your PM's. I finally got back to you on the Allers. My network went down last night as I was replying to you. :( I included my eamil addy, as the PM's are very limited and I just couldn't get everything said I wanted to.

Lisa....who would hang on to that Palmer case, as the two should really be a set. ;)

Hi Ken

You know me and I am telling you to never refinish that cue. It is a nice Palmer and the delrin butt cap is what tells it appart from the next generation cues that have no value. The finish on that cue is fine. You would be adding no value to the cue. And that is a less desireable palmer that will never fetch a premium. It is however a very well constructed cue some of the last of its kind and worth keeping. I gaurentee it hits like a truck. So be glad for what it is a good old cue and collectable at that. If it were a great old cue I still probably wouldn't refinish it either! Nick
