I just acquired this really nice wrapless ebony and tulipwood cue from Paul Drexler. Anyone ever seen a joint like this one before? The joint is mokume, sterling silver and copper welded together in sheets then twisted to give it the pattern. Its used alot in jewelry and in custom knives.

That joint is pretty interesting. I wonder how that affects the hit....it would have been interesting to have some ringwork or something else with those type of materials...

I just think that is pretty cool. That cue is gorgeous and I'm sure that stuff is pretty expensive....just haven't seen it obviously! Great cue Joe!

i had a couple elshiwitz knives with mokume bolsters...and damascus blades

nices stuff

I Like it!

That is a great looking cue, I love the joint
The Floating points are like my Dishaw, but much more fancy

Great investment, I'm sure it plays great

It is always nice to see high end players and PFD Makes them

Paul is building a hight end cue for CB1000 (Craig), all Ebony and Ivory 40 plus points

It's an interesting joint composition. My only concern is that both silver and copper are soft metals, and while fine for jewelry, I would be worried about any potential damage from daily play.

Looks cool though! :D

Nice cue Bama! I love how his points extend past the rings so they really stand out and look even longer. Very unique, especially with that joint. I make knives occasionally and I love Damascus and alloy designs.

very cool cue. What is the pin? Looks like a black g-10 radial to me, though I can't say I have seen one before.

It doesn't look like g-10. More like an anodised pin to me.

reminds me of a DP I used to own

I am in no way demeaning PFD, I really like the cue a lot.
I loved the look of the DP, the contrast to the ebony is profound.

The DP point wood is redheart with a purpleheart hoppe ring.

Nice grab BAMA, love the cue!

Thanks for all the input. To answer some questions:

The cue is a player. Very solid hit. Weighs in at 20.5 ounces as you would expect from an all ebony cue, but the balance is super. Balance point is 18.5-19 inches. The joint is a black radial G-10 pin. There is no issue with the softness of silver/copper in the joint. The joint is a solid piece of tempered Makume. It is plenty hard, and very, very durable. Actually, I took some silver polish to it earlier, and it really sparkles. While many people think of Paul Drexler as a master in building artistic cues, he really builds a super player. IMHO, this is one that meets both standards.

I agree, this is one of the nicest PFDs I have seen.
Also, you will know he makes a super player by watching Santos Sambajon whip up on people with his PFD

Since I no longer collect cues, I will probably be offering this one up for sale in the not too distant future.
